Extremely confused...need help!

So I had 4.5 installed and everything an hour ago before I uninstalled and then re-installed to try and get my directories set up right since I apparently had everything in the wrong place, it worked fine and everything before but now that I have it uninstalled and I'm trying to re-install everything, I have no idea what to do. I don't know where to put content to have it load, I don't have any kinds of sub-folders, I don't have anything. I was re-installing to make everything more organized because the first installation gave me 3 "DAZ 3D" folders under "My Dcouments" and then one that was a totally separate folder that said "My DAZ 3D Library" in the same place, I thought everything was supposed to be inside the "DAZ 3D" folder but all the content was ending up spread out thru all 4 of these folders. I just wanna get all my stuff working and in the right spot, but every tutorial I've clicked on in the help section says "404 Not Found". If I uninstall everything and start a re-install, what do I do step by step? Where do I install my content, what folders should be in where...I don't even know how I got it all working when I first installed it. Any help would be appreciated, I just wanna get it all re-set up and have all my content installed and working again...under the right directories instead of 4 separate folders like it was before.

Are you installing these files yourself using downloaded installers, or are you using the DIM (DAZ Install Manager)?
If you are using the DIM, it will create the following folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library , which is the new default location.
All that you need to do, is to allow the DIM to install your content there, it will put everything in the correct place, including Poser content, and Genesis Starter Essentials.
My DAZ 3D Library is the new folder that the DIM uses to install your content, you should use that
I just used the default installers...I got all my DLs thru the "My Account" section because it would never show up under the install manager thing...
If you have used the DIM to install your content before, then it will be installed into the folder you mentioned in your first post, My DAZ 3D Library.
You MUST add that folder to the Content Directory manager, so that DS can find the content. Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library, and then click the label Content Directory manager, and enter the path to that library in BOTH Poser and DAZ Studio Formats.
Can you please post a screenshot of what you have listed in the Content Directory Manager for Poser and DS

If you are certain taht the DIM did not download anything, then you should install all of your content, including Genesis Starter Essentials, to the My Library folder in Documents. Everything is installed there, including Poser content, just make sure the path you are installing to ends with My Library.
I would strongly suggest taht you use the DIM as it is much faster, and it makes life so much easier.
K, that little piece of information was enough, I didn't have them set to the right directory...for some reason, it was linked to an empty folder. Thanks much!! Plus the DIM thing just now recognised all the DLs I had already installed manually, but I'll be sure to use that from now on to avoid mass confusion again.
