Problems with IE 10?
Arghhhh...., I needed to log into my Linksys Router to change some port forwarding addresses. I have always had an established password for the router but Linksys doesn't require a login name, you just type the password into the password field and leave the login name blank. This has worked well since forever.
However, today I got a Microsoft update notice to install IE 10 on my Win7 systems, so like an obedient little robot, I did, and it appears that the new IE 10 on Win7 doesn't play well with the Linksys Router. :-(
I can use Google's Chrome browser from the Win7 machine and it works fine. I can go to a WinXP machine and use IE8 and it works fine. I try to use IE 10 from my Win8 machine (note: that Win8 came with IE 10 already installed) and also doesn't play well with the Linksys router. :-(
Yeah, I know I can use Chrome or older versions of IE but this is just annoying! 8-s
Confirmation would be appreciated.
Notes: I login directly from wired LAN using "https" protocol, and I also have remote management enabled.
Additional notes: disabling remote management and going back to only http protocol still doesn't fix the problem. Apparently this incarnation of IE 10 just doesn't like Linksys's login method. I tried to find a way to set a login name rather than leaving it blank but the configuration dialogs don't seem to have any way to set a login name. :-(
Final note: Googling the Internet comes up with this:
