Shuttlestar Installer
I purchased the new Shuttlestar today.
I downloaded ShuttleStar-poser-core for windows.
I did this TWICE.
I did so thinking I had missed something. As far as I can tell I haven't.
No matter what I did, the Shuttlestar keeps wanting to install in DAZ Studio.
No. I want to install it in Poser.
I changed the path so it would point to my runtime. My Poser Runtime.
It installed. Sort of.
I get the CR2 but it can't find it's own textures.
Dear Daz,
Fix this so it will install into the Poser Runtime.
I shouldn't have to shuffle files. I shouldn't have to search for anything.
I should have to click and enjoy.
Perhaps I am the only with this problem. I don't know.
Once more. To be Clear. The Poser Install for Shuttlestar wants to install into DAZ Studio.
I believe the Poser Install should install to Poser.

Please file a bug report so it gets fixed.
I will do so immediately.
I do wonder if I am the only poser user with this problem.
What do you mean when you say it wants to install for DS? If it's the path you should be able to click the folder icon and change it to the folder that holds the Runtime folder. Considering that the item has been available for a while I would be surprised if it was generally broken, unless that was down to a recent update.
Just tested this with my Poser Pro runtime. I found it under Figures -> Shuttlestar. All the materials were found under Pose. It seems to install perfectly fine.
Remember to set the installation path to your ROOT Poser directory, not the Runtime folder. It automatically puts it into Runtime when you install.
I mean it listed the install path for for DAZ studio rather Poser.
Richard, this hasn't happened for a while. I did change the path to my root directory. In fact, now even when I Uninstall and re-install the product it now correctly points to program files/e-frontier/poser 7. This where I keep the files on an external hard drive. However when I go to use the CR2, it can't find certain jpg files
I don't think I should have to change the path. I think when I install a product using the Poser Installer, it shouldn't point to My Library/DAZ/Content. (I'm typing that from memory. Please excuse me if I have the path wrong but you get the general idea)
There was a recent update where it addressed the textures being installed incorrectly.
To add more confusion. I bought the extra textures. Those extra textures installed properly and I can use them with no problem. It feels like I'm missing the default texture of ShuttleStar. I've attached a screenshot. Perhaps that will help.
As you can see, several items come up when windows checks my texture file but not the file in question. As I click cancel or choose one of the "SSK" files, this continues until I'm tired of clicking or waiting.
Don't get me wrong. I love Kirabetto. I have pretty much every model he has sold. This is the only product that does this. Well, here I go. I hope I Attached the file properly.
As you can see in the image above, It simply can't find the file indicated and gives me the other files that are very close.
To any who has the file. How many different Mats are available with the original product?
The installers should remember the last used path, though I have come across both Poser installers remembering the last sued DS path and vice versa so something like that may be what happened here. As for the texture paths, I'm afraid I have no idea why that would be happening - though the file list in the readme doesn't have a SSKwins.jpg file, so it does look like an error.
Yes, I can confirm that the SSKwins2 should be SSKwins2gray and SSKwins1 should be SSKwins1gray. However, this won't actually affect the output. The reason is that there is a disconnected brick in the material which has the SSKwinsX file. It's not used, but it exists which is why it's asking for the file. That's why it appears fine in the viewport. It seems to be leftovers from development.
Check it yourself in the materials tab.
Still, all said and done I can load it and render it fine in Poser, and that's all that really matters in the end.
Thank you RIchard. I didn't think to check the files list It would've made my ticket to DAZ support a little more understandable.
@HOF. I certainly believe you. Armed with that knowledge, I can now simply select SSKwins1gray when it asks for the proper file.
However, I disagree in your all that matters approach. The files should load without prompting and without addition. Mistakes should be corrected. If the item were free I would think the artist would still wish it corrected. Knowing DAZ as I do, they put a high emphasis on Quality and will correct it as soon as possible.
Thanks for finding the mistakes. Mistakes happen. We're only human. But they should be fixed.
You also may be having problems because Win7/8/Vista protect the Program Files hierarchy, so files that appear to be there may really be in a virtual location.
A virtual location? I had no idea of that possibility. I'm so far behind!
However in this case, it's doubtful. The runtime I use is part of an old Poser 7 Install on an external hard drive. My actual Poser 9 install is pretty clean. I can even run Mike and Vicky 4 off it. Plus it has not affected the other stuff I bought during March Madness. This is the only item that didn't install properly. I think the File list mentioned earlier in the thread is the real culprit. It's asking for files that aren't listed!
But thanks. This has keyed something in my mind. I DO install everything to that old runtime. Perhaps it's why Genesis has failed me. Next Payday I'll re-install Genesis to the Poser 9 runtime and get Santa Baby and try again.
Thanks for the help!!
It's been a few days and I haven't heard back from DAZ support. However thanks to Richard and HeraldofFire I copied the proper textures, renamed them and then added them to the Shuttlestar Texture folder. Everything works fine now.
Thank you much for your help and interest. It truly made a difference.
