Install Manager and Product Updates

ok... so I was in a frenzy of reinstalling, in the hopes that metadata would appear. Alas, it was sparse at best and some of it quite broken when it was there.
So I uninstalled, and thought carefully about how I wanted to approach this and started over.
No it seems that all my previously installed product updates think they are already installed. They are no longer available to install.
I do believe I uninstalled them, but... nowhere to be seen come the re-install.
Anyone else experience this, or know why it might be happening?
TIA

In my experience uninstalling, using the DIM, adds the item to the ready to install tab - assuming you didn't delete the zip when done, in which case it will have gone back to the ready to download tab. If it's still showing as installed, because you did a manual uninstall by deleting the folders, then uninstall from there (it will work even if there are no longer any files) and it will go back to the install/download tab as appropriate.
Richard, everything was installed/uninstalled via DIM. Product Updates simply no longer appear (at least ones that were previously installed). No zip files have been deleted.
Do updates have their own zip files?
No, if you've downloaded an update then that's what's sitting in the Ready to Install list. You won't see it listed as an update until there's a new update.
So.....a Product Update replaces a product's installation file? That would make sense.
Yes, it's only listed as a Product Update if there's an older version to compare it to. If you uninstall it, it just shows up as a Product rather than an update.
