why does it do this please?

I wanted to work on a work I was doing some time ago in Daz3 but when I opened it I saw many of the figures in the scene seemed to have this in the middle of their bodies (in the image)

why does it do this please and can it be rectified? thx.

    Presumably you're talking about the forehead patch? Check the opacity settings on the Surface Tab. It's usually turned off.

    If you're referring to the missing body part ... again check the scene tab for hidden bone(s) and/or the opacity tab for Zeroed sections.
