A Challenge Forum

I have a suggestion for a new board on this forum: General Challenge Forum

Here's why. Let's assume someone is creating something, ANYTHING. It could be a texture map for a character, or a portrait, or a Polygon model made from scratch. The original person doing this posts the beginning of his work, and whomesoever wishes to, joins in and attempts to do the same, offering their own technique and approach along the way. This could be for any project, and each thread that starts gets locked after one week, so it gives a real deadline for the challenge.

This accomplishes two things: one, it increases community participation and flattens the learning curve for all those participating.

Perhaps it could also be a board used for the purposes of running contests with real prizes, but it's primary purpose would be for learning.

    New users Contest forum is for New Users Contests, as Wancow says.

    However there is a Forum which is ideal for setting up Challenges. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/2/

    Note this part of the intro to the forum which shows in the index of forums

    So you want a separate forum for old users? Will there be an minimal age limit restriction or it will be purely on when I registred my profile date basis?

    The New Users Forums are a set of Forums that were launched on March 12 2010, so have been there for over 3 years. The idea of these forums to give the New Users a chance to get their questions answered and to be given hints and tips without the normal hassle they were getting in the mainstream forums. normally older users telling them that their question had been answered many times before, etc etc. A Contest Froum for New Users was included to encourage New Users to get used to entering Contests without having to compete against those who have been rendering and entering contest for many years. THe Contests run in the forum are essentially educational contests, as you will see if you take a look

    This is the Announcement that was made in the old forums, when the New Users Forums were inaugurated.

    BTW as for starting a Forum purely for Contests and Challenges. Ask anyone who has used Renderosity forums regularly what happened to the Challenge Arena over there.
