Auto-fit simply does not work

I have a clean install of DAZ Studio Pro 4.5. I used the Install Manager to get all of my studio's purchased content into my clean database. To answer the obvious questions first: yes, I have Pro installed, and yes, my plugin is active. I understand how auto-fit works. I make sure that Genesis is selected in the scene. I navigate to the content icon - for instance, a V4 dress, and try loading it into the scene - I've tried double-clicking, select-and-drag, right-click-load - absolutely nothing works. I have only had it work once - as expected, it prompted me to select what the content was originally designed for, and what content type it is, and it worked this first and only time. Ever since, absolutely nothing happens. I have spent two full days and am pulling my hair out. We have $800 worth of content for V4 and M4 that I'd like to be able to use with the M5 and V5 bundles that I paid $400 for. I can't use any of it. Anyone else having any trouble with auto-fit? I've also tried reimporting all metadata. Thanks!

Those methods your using to apply Gen4 (or earlier if you have the iconic add-on shapes) should work, but I don't have answer why it isn't on your system. Just to confirm, the scene tab shows Genesis selected, then you double click on a piece of clothing and the autofit pop-up isn't being triggered?

Here are two alternative methods to trigger the Autofit pop-up when applying Gen4 clothes to Genesis.

Method 1

1. Load a piece of clothing.
2. With that clothing selected, right click and select "Fit to.." and select Genesis. The Autofit pop-up should appear.

Method 2

1. Load a piece of clothing
2. With that clothing selected, go to the Parameter Tab and set the "FIt To" to Genesis and the Autofit pop-up should appear.

Sounds to me like your trying to load material presets instead of the actual clothing, as you have Genesis selected DS will be trying to apply them to it, but because they don't have the right material zones in them nothing happens. With Gen 4 content your talking Poser format files, so for the clothing your looking for files with a CR2 file extension, and chances are your running without the option to show those extensions checked, so you wont have a clue what your trying to load, go "Edit > Preferences" and in the window that opens select the "Content Library" tab, it's the second option from the top.

Have you tried loading these clothes onto V4 and M4? If that's not working either, then it probably isn't an AutoFit issue...maybe it's what Bejaymac said; that the icons you're clicking are for materials presets, not the actual clothing items. Look in the Content Library, under Poser Formats>My DAZ 3D Library>Figures for the actual clothing...that's where they are likely to be..

If, however, you can get the clothes onto V4 or M4, then try one of the methods Lindsey mentioned, to move the clothes over to Genesis.

Sometimes it does not automatically fit the clothing. Check the base parameter of the clothing to see if it's fit to anything. If not, goto fit to and select Genesis.
