I Love March Madness

I'm having a great time cleaning up my wishlist and seeing all the cool new stuff for MM. Anyone else want to share positive thoughts or cool renders about the sale.

So first I'll say thanks to anyone who bought from my store when it was on sale, I hope you have fun with the goodies.

Next I'll say Flipmode's genesis jeans are on sale today! http://www.daz3d.com/fm-jeans-for-genesis Bar none, this is my most-used Genesis item, I use them constantly. They pose well with no pokethru and there's an adjustment morph to make the waist higher or lower. Really a good useful item so if you're thinking about buying it I heartily recommend it!

Today I'm totally going to buy Xilia's asian head morphs - it's really hard to find morphs with nice single-lidded eyes and these are great. My son is Chinese-American and has beautiful single-lidded eyes so I'm going to see if I can mix these with Genesis child and make a virtual version of my little guy....minus the tantrums :)

With DIM I'm able to download and install the same day I buy something...how weird is that? It usually takes me til the end of April to get all my MM purchases installed. Now I just have to render something!

Ok, so who wants to play? Anyone have renders to share?

The amount of new content is nuts, twice as much as usual and all great work. Bobbie25 and Sarsa must be in a pixel induced coma somewhere after all the work they have done. If your not loving this years sale you better have yourself tested for Rabies!

I gotta thank the customers (or, better yet, the awesome fans) for their support. This was one of my best sales and the bills are paid. No more gruel for dinner, it's beans and rice now. :D Thank you very much!

I still can't believe how much stuff was made for this year's MM, it's overwhelming.

Thanks for the upbeat post. It's my first MM and I get a buzz each day waking up to see what's new. It's like Christmas morning every day. :) OK I haven't bought every day or even most days, but love the window shopping and yes have treated myself to a few new things too.

Those Asian head morphs are beautiful, aren't they? I like making my own but I'm still learning and ethnic features can be a challenge so I going to grab these. Besides, it's good to see the men getting some attention. Though the ladies are dying to get into Shanghai Style so that's on the wishlist. ;)

I also finally got myself some other wishlisted items, and then Ibrahim sneaked in and stole my heart...

    Greetings,
Thanks for this thread! I've been wanting to mention this for a WHILE now.

I really appreciate the fact that the PA sales and others are not 'one and done', since I was absolutely flat broke for the first half of this month. There was a point when I stared at the March Madness page and saw that an annual PC membership was on sale, and was crushed, because I knew that I didn't have the $45 to spend that would save me $95 (actually saving me $50) over the next year, and I was afraid it wouldn't show up again.

Then, after getting paid on the 15th, yesterday the annual PC membership AND C8P both came on sale, both of which I'd drooled over earlier, and I promptly picked them both up, along with a ton of Ron's brushes in bundle form, and more.

I've been very happy with the sale this year, even though I had only picked up very inexpensive items before yesterday. The content, and the consistent and understandable sale prices have been great for me.

Today, in fact, I'm significantly clearing out my DAZ Original wishlist, because of the 40% off sale. That means that DO's are 27% of their normal price, which is a pretty spectacular discount. $223.40 of content for $60.33.

Yeah, this has been a solid March Madness, and the repeat sales have been a significant boon to me. Thanks DAZ!

p.s. I'll share renders when I get a bit of time!

There hasn't been much that has interested me this year so far, but i did get a few things. I had your "behind the neighborhood" wishlisted and was able to pick it up. Great set, can see getting lots of use out of it. Here is a test render in Lux.

I've recently "rediscovered" Genesis (well, Generation X, really) and March Madness came at a perfect time. Love the continued clothing geared towards A5 and YT5. Love the fact that Luxus was released (even though I'm a Reality user - options are always good for the consumer). Love the Maximum Madness stuff as well. Picked up a little bit of everything. Hoping the pace continues on.

I think the vendors have really put out some nice things this MM. I've been using my new stuff to help learn how to do things in DAZ Studio Pro. I'm especially happy with the Aiko 5 Premier Add-on Bundle. I am also really happy with Olivia V5 which is also featured in this render. I was happy when I realized that the Piranha Zipper dress used a Shader because this meant I could match up some shoes. Here I've applied the fur preset from the Piranha Zipper Dress to dx30 Sexy Platform Sandals. The cube is bricked because I was testing out how to build and save my own shader presets. Anyway, the test looked fairly good so I decided to take it to Photoshop and polish it up.

Edit: I was also experimenting with the Glute and Breast Movement Morphs. This is why I chose the sitting on cube option.

I've mostly been buying things on my wishlist. The only exception has been Svana for Genesis, which I saw while looking for fantasy stuff and put in my cart as soon as I saw it.

Anyway, these are some of the things I bought during MM: Cat Character & Hair by Valea, Sirano and Sirena by Danmoria, Lycan Hunter by midnight_stories, Young Teens Justin & Julie, and Svana for Genesis. Here I mixed Justin with Sirano and Julie with Sirena. I feel bad for Justin/Sirano because I haven't bought any male clothing. :P

    Greetings,
So one of the things I picked up was Carrara 8 Pro and Howie Farkes Country Lane 2.

I swung a camera out over the stream, and pointed it up a hill, and rendered this as a test, just to have something different than the promo images. My first 'render' in Carrara, although obviously I didn't build any of the scene. It showed me how incredibly complex Carrara is, and that there's a vast gap in my knowledge between D|S and it. (Even the cameras are named oddly!) Still, I'm ecstatic at the power in my hands, even if it'll be years before I can harness it with even a hint of competence.

I bought a bunch of D|S goodies also (including Ruth's Redemption!), and I'll render samples of them out soon, but for this MM 'happiness' thread, this combination (Carrara and Country Lane 2) is one of the things I'm most thrilled to have picked up.

...just picked up the Country Lane Bundle, Stoney Creek Bundle, Country Lane 2, and World Garden's Maze yesterday as I now have a system that I can turn Carrrara8Pro loose on. This was by far my biggest purchase of the sale.

So if I am an almost-total newb with Carrara, I can get one of Howie's scenes and it's all ready to render? I have the app and that maze is SO gorgeous I'm sort of boo hooing over my lack of ability to use it - but if all I have to figure out is how to get a person into the scene, maybe that's the way I'll learn Carrara (I've done a little modeling and UV mapping in it but no rendering...I'm a little backwards in how I approach apps).

Kyoto Kid, you have a new(er) system? IIRC you had been making creative accomodations for an older one for a while, so I'm really excited for you to get to see what a newer one will do with your collection. I had my old system for like 6 years before getting my current one last January, and having enough memory STILL blows my mind every time I click "render."

I'm so excited that DT's pretty, pretty eyeballs are in the store today! And the featured PAs are all ones I follow so I'll be spending the rest of my morning browsing thru everything...uuummm I mean working diligently at my day job. Cough.

    Ya sure can Canary :)
Howie's stuff is great and he usually includes the camera's used to make the promo renders and the render settings. I could be wrong but i think there is a howie product included with carrara too (snow scene)

As for the topic I got me, surprise, a new Howie scene!
...And Princess Asia, I have no idea what I'm gonna use it for yet, but it is so gorgeous I couldn't resist.
...And I had a go at Silver's store too :D

...Yes the World Gardens Maze. When I saw it I said this is perfect for the Hedge maze on the grounds of the Grande Estate in my story. Then I went to his store and added more to my cart.

I love sets that I can just drop my characters, props, what have you, in and render away especially when they are so exquisitely detailed.

    Greetings,
    "Redemption Squared"
DzFire's Ruths Redemption and Orion1167's Alice Redemption.

This was totally for fun; I picked up Ruths Redemption as part of MM, and realized I had Alice Redemption, and it became a moral imperative to mix them. :)

Hi, it's from Pretty3D, Road eagle here
    http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/road-eagle/66164

I redid most of the materials/shaders for Luxrender, but the model is fairly detailed and semi accurate.

I've had Cararra for years, but never used it, except once. I had picked up one of the Howie Farkes sets and did my own bit of pointing the camera at it and hitting render. Worked rather well, although the train was done in studio and the whole thing composited in Photoshop. But I got pretty much what I wanted from it.

A little bit after after tha fact here, but I am going to throw my support in for pretty much any of Howie Farkes' Carrara scenes. I particularly like the World Garden Japan and the Secret Lake but the new one, World Gardens Maze, looks amazing too. Pretty much, all you have to do is load the scene, find the camera angle you want and hit the render button.

This March Madness has been realtively low key for me. Not at all the frantic pace of previous years, which is sort of refreshing for a change. Still, I've done pretty well so far. I just totalled up my orders for the month and, not counting the weekly freebies, I have spent 156.99 (plus my PC coupon) and got:

    Adarian
    Adarian Textures
    Dental Plan for Genesis
    Freak 5 Pro Bundle
    Freak 5 Big Sweater
    Bot Genesis
    Eastern Beauty
    Odd Bundle
    Young Teens 5 Pro Bundle
    Outpost
    Archimedes Prime
    Geishas for Aiko 5
    Princess Asia
    Projecty EYEris
    Goth Chick
    Piranha Zipper Dress
    Whole Lot of Piranhas

15 items plus 2 pro bundles. Pretty good haul I think.
