Weapon as Smart Prop?

Hoping I can get some help here. I have managed to obtain a Poser prop of the SA80 rifle. I have changed the surfaces to the Uber Iray Base and it looks good enough for my needs.

My question relates to the best method for saving this item (Scene Subset, Prop, Smart Prop, etc). I have done some research, but I am still unsure of the best method to use. I see conflicting advice regarding "smart props", etc.

I want to use this "prop" in several different scenes with many different poses. One saving grace is the SA80 rifle can only be fired right-handed, so it only needs to be posed with the right hand holding the pistol grip.

I'd welcome some assistance on the best methods to both save this prop, and which type of pose presets I should use. Thanks.

Incidentally, I will probably only be using this prop with Genesis 3 Male, if that makes my questions any easier to answer!

A Wearables preset is the obvious way to save a "smart prop" in DS.
