Are there 3D BAGPIPES Available?

Either the bagpipes alone, or as part of another product?

Thanks!

...I tried that one but for some reason the drone cords don't load.

I have been looking for the same thing.   So far, nothing I have found is really what I need.   Looking for both Great Highand and Uilleann pipes.  A set of smallpipes would be nice too.

Had the same problem with the Ranquist freebie as Kyoto Kid.  Pity, they are rigged for animation.

Phil Cooke had a free set on his site, but it looks like he has retired.   He is still on Facebook, so you might contact him.  I have them somewhere, and need to take another look at them.

CGTrader has severl models that look very nice, but they are not rigged.  I may buy one of those and see if I can make it work.

Turbosquid has a rigged set for Maya, with possibly some other formats.  I need to look further into this.

There is also a Sketchup version, but I have not had much luck converting.

Highend 3d has a set for Lightwave which may be rigged.  In fact, I am going to buy those today and will report back in the next few days.   I have a project which hinges on this, so no time like the present.

More as soon as I can get that set and try it.   Will try it in PoserPro.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to make some progress on this!

Hmm.   Turbosquid now has several bagpipe models, but apparently only the one for Maya is rigged.   Might have to learn rigging.

Ranquist's model works beautifully!  It even comes with "finger" poses to suggest different notes being played!

    Sincerely,

Redfern:  thanks for the info!   Did you use DS for this?

I got Ranquist's model to work in PoserPro 2012, not sure what is different from when I tried it in Poser 7.   The drone strings will detach at extreme poses of the drones, but it really works pretty darn well.  I am building new workstations and such, so I don't have Daz Studio set up to try right now.  This is a nice model, set up for animation with poses, only problem is that it does not have a bag cover that can be textured with a tartan.  Also, it seems like trying to change the scale causes problems with the drone strings, but I really don't need to rescale.

Purchased the bagpipe model from HighEnd3d, but I was unable to import the LWO file in PP2012.  They say they can convert to other formats, so I asked for Poser or OBJ.  Might be easier just to make my own bag cover for Ranquist's model, or adapt something.   Plenty of tartan textures out there.

Hmmm.   I could set something up like the "Unipiper" on YouTube.  Rides the unicycle in various costumes while playing the 'pipes.  In the most recent clips, the base drone shoots a plume of flame.   Brilliant!

    Poser Pro 2014...

I spent far more time giving H3 a "realistic" face than anything else.  However, I just turned his torso and limbs a neutral grey so the attention would focus upon the pipes, the hands and the alignment with the mouth.

    Sincerely,

    Bill
