Why is everything BLACKED OUT?
Yeah, I am new to this program. There is a steep learning curve and not every detail is obvious.
1. How do I make a short video render entirely from the camera point of view?
2. My first renders where always dark, until I changed to "Sun-Sky", and set the day time to 11:55 A.M. then things seemed fine... uhm, why was it dark (no matter how many lights I added) to begin with?
3. now when I render, all I get is a pure black blot. why?
does Daz work or not?
4. How do I do a TOTAL UNISTALL - no hidden folders, no saved preferences, etc. a total nuclear option, to take it out, and start over.?
5. I had scoured the web for an easily accumilated 100 gigs of free-stuff for Daz3d: Needless to say, much of that conent did not work at all - and when it does... It doesn't show up in the "ALL FILES" of products, my library, or even the content library. Imagine my exasperation: I unzip a file, I read the read me, (which is 70% of the time is two or so pointless sentences) I am sometimes left with a set of files and no clue where they go in "My library" - That just sucks. I consider this a FAILURE of the people behind Daz3d to make 3rd party daz content plug and play. I had more fun modding the SIMS 2. and if the massive mountains of FREE, but unorganized content didn't teach the folks at Daz to refine how Content needs to be "Plug'n'Play" without fail. I have a UV file - where does that go? I have an mtl file, where does that go? I have a 3d object file, I have a jpeg, I have a png, I get files that don't even blong there (my favorite so far was a colorful PDF catalogue for a dead link...)
I am having to do WAY TOO MUCH WORK, to use a program that so far... HAS NOT WORKED.
Solutions would be nice, especially if these are brought up by other users (repeatedly)...
Daz, can these issues be resolved, or not? let me know now - do not waste my time please.
Comments
...It should be obvious, If I can't use it... I will never buy content for it. looking at the prices in the Daz store, I am glad that I haven't bought a damn thing yet for a program that only produces blacked out pictures.
Shall I write a review, based on my experience with this program - thus far?
Speaking of free-stuff made for daz...
the videos for how to remove collisions don't seem to apply. can we have new tutorial videos WITH A DATE and VERSION in the title? and Videos that actually apply to the current release.
oh, I have tried restoring defaults. that doesn't do anything to resolve my issues.
Go back to basics. In Render Settings, in the Editor tab, click the Defaults button. Now go to Create>New Primitive, set the type to Sphere, and click Accept. Render>Render. What do you get?
Richard is right in taking a "lets start at the beginning" approach to solving this problem. However, assuming you have a light in your scene which is not being blocked by another object (such as a dome), it is a good possibility that the black render is due to the camera being placed behind an object in your scene that you do not see in preview mode; for example a wall, or even a large disk light. This is simple to test, just move the camera to another position and try to rerender. Good luck.
@chad4hale "There is a steep learning curve and not every detail is obvious."
Imagine that
Why is Daz expected to be responsible for free content that you found somewhere? The content authors can pack that anyway they want.
I understand you're frustrated, but "does Daz work or not? " is just silly. Have you even taken a look at the Gallery?
