Michael 8 won't load

After I installed with Daz Connect, I saw that the icon for M8 was missing a picture and when I try to load him I get an error that says the figure couldn't be loaded and to see the log.

I checked the file locations and Michael 7 and Michael 8 are both in the Connect directory. I thought somebody said something about some Michael 8 Essentials, but I didn't see any such file in DIM.

Some of the errors were:

I haven't updated to the latest version of DS as some people were saying they were having trouble with the program sort of freezing for periods of time. Is that the issue? Or am I missing some file? It looks like I downloaded everything from connect. The only thing left in connect are some video tutorials that I installed manually. Plus some very old content.

My connect library is on an external drive. My non-connect library is on my C drive. It appears that these directories point to the C Drive. I looked for some of these files and they don't appear to be there. So how do I get them?

I have bought the pro bundles for M5, M6, M7 and M8. Pluse I have M4, M3 and M2.

Well, I downloaded and installed the Genesis 8 Male Starter Essentials, but I had to work to do it. It didn't show in DIM or Daz Connect. I got it to show in DIM, but installing didn't help. Also, I noticed that none of the Michael 8 pro bundle shows in DIM. Should I have installed it that way and not connect?

  • Depending on your settings (and I'm not sure which is the default) DIM may not show Connect installed content. If the content was isntalled by Connect DS will use that rather than a DIM install anyway. I did just now have an update for Genesis 8 Starter Essentials in Connect.

Thanks. I found the Genesis 8 starter update under Updates. I installed it, but M8 still throws up an error. The portion of the log that I posted above was the wrong section. The new stuff is at the bottom. I don't know what the other error is about, as M7 loads fine. In any case, this is the error for M8. It says there is a syntax error. After I installed the starter update, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling M8. It says it was successful, but he still won't load. Some screenshots follow at the end.

  • That looks like a bad file. Uninstall, close DS, restart DS, and reinstall - that should make sure the original downloads really are gone and are replaced with new versions.

Well, I tried removing the folder for M8 by using the sku. It then showed the product being available in the install pane again. So I reinstalled but it made no difference.

I think tried installing through DIM, but M8 still remains unusable.

Then I closed daz and removed the folder 1-45773 again. I re-opened studio and now all the M8 products above have icons. But when I click on the icon for M8, Studio tells me it can't open the file Michael 8 because it doesn't exist. But I can see it. And if I open the folder I can click on the actual duf file and it loads just fine. So why doesn't Daz think the file is there, when it is. The path appears to be correct. I don't get it.

And this whole Michael 8 thing has been a mess. I didn't change anything about my directories.Everything goes where it has always gone. And I have never removed anything from my connect (cloud) folder until today. So I don't see how any of this is a result of something I did.

Any ideas on how to get DS to see a file that isn't there when it really is. I think I've read of this happening before. I was happy with connect until today, but now I'm not so sure anymore!

OK. I got it to work but not with Connect.

I uninstalled M8 by going to the Product and right clicking and choosing uninstall and then I went and removed the folder 1-45773.

Then I uninstalled M8 using DIm. Then I redownloaded M8 with DIM and now I have icons with pictures and now M8 loads when I click on the icon.

(Before I did this, I did try to re-download and install with Connect. Not sure if I did it right but it didn't work. This is what I did...

I uninstalled M8 by right clicking on the icon on the product tab. Then I went and removed the folder 1-45773. When I re-opened Daz, I went to the Install pane and M8 was there in black and white. I clicked on it and said to install. I assume that that would re-download and then install. But after I did that, I still got the same errors shown above.)

So DIM worked for me, but Connect did not.
