  • I don't see this - are you using the character with Genesis 3 female or another figure? Did you use the Character Preset to load, or did you apply the materials preset to a loaded figure? Is the render iray or 3Delight?

Yes, it's Genesis3 female character, model Jane with its own material (skin, eyes etc), no mod or morphs, rendered in iray.

Even if I rotate the eye, this defect stays at same position (so I can't hide it under eyelid), it's kinda overlaping with something.

But if I load the same character, it's OK until I load the same pose. It seems posing causes this defect.

At the moment I just used white sphere incide an eye, works at low res, but this is not a solution.

The biggest problem in solving that problem is time, it can take about 2 min before I see the result.

Which pose are you using? One thing to try might be select both eyes, then go to Edit>Object>Zero>Zero Selected Item(s)

Are you using the Iray materials?

To me it looks like a transparency map is being misapplied to one of the surfaces of the eye...possibly a 3DL material being mistranslated to Iray.

Ok, here I did a little research and results are:
It affects all characters, as you can see on the screenshot, I used standart G3F, standart T-pose.
It affects eyes only (but I could miss something).
It appears when Z-coordinate became -1032 and less (away from zero to minus)
It happens only if I use iRay "photorealistic" mode ("intaractive" is OK)

Well, solution is obvelouse, but I'd like to know why it happens and what to do about that if scene is big enough.

  • Yes, there are known to be issues in Iray when items are away from the world centre.

Yes, there are known to be issues in Iray when items are away from the world centre.

I though that was fixed in later versions of Daz Studio. At least for me, problems I used to have went away. Maybe I was not as far away from center as -1032????

Dave, what version of Daz Studio are you using? On the helo menu, choose About Daz Studio... In the upper left corner of the popup screen, you will see something like 4.9.4.122. What version do you have?

I just tried moving my character to Z -2000 and it renders fine in DS 4.9.4.122.

One workaround for the problem you are having is to leave your character in the center at 0,0,0 and move the environment props instead to get the same relative position of character to environment.

In my case it says 4.9.3.166

Hm, I think I use old one :)

An update to 4.9.4.122 will probably fix your issue, then

  • Ah, I did think there was a fix - but I wasn't sure it was total.
