Question about Lorella Fantasy outfit's UV mapping (attn: DemonicaEvilius, Silver)

Hi. I recently purchased this outfit and downloaded the texture templates in order to make a transparency map (to hide parts of the frame). However, painting on what I think are the frame UV templates only hides very small portions of the surface (mostly backfacing polygons and the rings around the gems). Am I not quite understanding how this clothing is mapped or could there be a small issue with the UVs?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't have this so I can only speculate. If the material is meant to be metallic the vendor may not have seen a need to unwrap it. Instead used simple projection or box mapping with the intention of using a procedural metal shader on it.

That's very possible, thanks for pointing it out. I tried remapping it with UV Mapper, but the results are still too difficult to transmap well. Not the end of the word, if I have to hide parts of the outfit, I'll just render twice (once nude, once not) and clone it out. :)

    Thanks, take care.

I pointed Demonica to this thread. She just left for vacation so her net may be dodgy but shes trying to check in with me every so often. Im not quite sure how she mapped it since the intention was to use metal shaders. Sorry I couldnt be more helpful hopefully she pops in soon :)

Hi SnowSultan, sorry for the delay ... didnt have much access whilst on vacation (forums wouldnt even load for me!) ... The curly frame was pretty hellish to map, and as we where intending to use metal/shaders on it anyways I didnt map it perfectly continuous.

It was only afterwards I thought it would be cool to hide the side frame in Bikini *mode* but by then the product had already had all jcms and morphs made and it would require a full remake pretty much! A lesson learned for next time!

Sorry it required you to resort to postwork tricks :( But that was a good work around!
