Depth of Focus - how to determine distance?

edited December 1969 in Carrara Discussion

Ok, I'm working with depth of focus using Carrara. Does anyone know an easy way to figure the distance from the camera lens to an object so that I can set it to the correct distance? I tried plonking down a block and using that to guess, but that didn't work very well. My focus is still soft on the target. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Assuming you're talking about Focus in the DOF dialog: click the button next to the Focus field, then click on something in the preview.

It's a little red cross hair. As mentioned, click on the og=bject in the preview window you want to focus on. You'll notice the distance to object will update.
