Quick Question about shadows

JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,285

I know there is a setting somewhere which keeps something from recieving shadows. It was a standard setting for things like the Multiplane Cyclorama and some of the other early environment sets.

What is it called, and where do I find it? I'm using a rain prop and the rain is catching shadows from a building. The building needs shadows. The rain doesn't need to catch them.

There is an option in the object Parameters under Display but only in 3Delight, the option is not available in Iray.

I'm rendering in 3DL. But under Display Parameters I only see the cast shadows option. Which is off. But it's still *catching* shadows from other objects which are casting them. I need it not to catch the shadows.

I've shut down DS for the night, so I can't check, but I want to say it was on the specific material shaders in the DS Default folder.  Not dzdefault itself, but the specific Plastic/skin/matte etc.

I also remember it being an option with many (though not all) of the PoseWorks shaders.

Do those still work in 4.9?

Omnifreaker's UberSurface shader has an option to turn 'Accept Shadows' on/off, is that what you mean?

That would certainly work. Where do I find it? Does it show up in the Display parameters once the UberSurface is applied, or does it hide somewhere else?

It is on the Surfaces tab.

Will apply the UberShader and go hunting it. Thank you!
