Genesis 8 will use the maps from Genesis 3 (with the base UVs, which most of them use), so any Genesis 3 wet map product should be usable - though you may need to do a little fiddling as they may be provided as hiearchical materials, to apply to a Geometry Shell on the base figure, and those are fussier about which figure they are used with (a quick fix is to save a regular materials preset from the shell on Genesis 3 and apply that to a shell on Genesis 8)

  • thanks for the info :)

how would I know whether a given wetmap product will require that fiddling or not?

    for instance: https://www.daz3d.com/drips-and-drops-for-genesis-3-female-s

would I be able to use this with genesis 8, with minimal or no extra fiddling?

  • Drips and Drops seems to work, at least to load (but each section has to be AutoFitted). The other two parts of the bundle are scripts, and they won't run with Genesis 8 selected.

    Hello LiteroticaKatieTay,

drips and drops is not made of maps, but is made as several outfit parts made for Genesis 3. I have not tested it on Genesis 8, as Richard said, each part will need the autofit, and there may (or not) be issues on the various joints of the Genesis 8  figure (the drops may pop a few millimeters out of the body where you bend the bones). The shaders used by the drops were made "in relation" with the shader of the underlying skins, so since shaders for the Genesis 8 figures are not exactly the same as the ones for Genesis 3, there might be some shader readjusments to make.

The "so wet - and tanned" shaders could probably work on Genesis 8 - in term of rendering - but the scripts limit the use to Genesis 3, in order to be sure the wet and tanned look settings are optimal for the generation (Genesis 3) they were developped for. I plan to make something for Genesis 8 which would be different - enhanced I hope - and which would take advantage of the fact there are identical UV sets for the base female, V8, etc, etc  - at least for now - .. I plan to have this ready before the end of the year, or early next year (depending on my success in texture painting specific addon wet maps). I the meantime what could be done is to apply the Genesis 8 initial material preset on Genesis 3 base female, then apply the wet and tanned (or wet only) skins and adjust the wet look on her, and finally save it as a new material preset to reapply it to Genesis 8.

Drips and Drops seems to work, at least to load (but each section has to be AutoFitted). The other two parts of the bundle are scripts, and they won't run with Genesis 8 selected.

Thank you Richard for your answers! That's a nice summary.
