How do I use a HDRI in a building?

I have this building https://www.daz3d.com/boxing-arena with no windows and I want to use a HDRI as a lightsource. How do I fit the HDRI inside the building?

You could try setting a finite dome and changing the dome radius until you get the lights inside the space. Be sure to leave the draw dome to off.

  • It dosen't work for some reason

I put it to finite box and put hight and everything at 20 but I see nothing.

On many sets the ceiling is a separate geometry. Delete it, hide it (click the eye icon in the Scene tab), or move it.

If that fails, you can apply an Iray section plane. It's very easy to remove a ceiling this way. Apply the plane, then move it upwards until it's just below the ceiling. Iray will "section" (remove) everything above it, and the light from the HDRi will come through.

I think 20 might be a bit big, try setting it to 5 and then increase it slowly to stay inside the building. Set Visualize Finite Dome to ON, select the building and click on the square with the dot to frame the image and you should see the dome in colour and can set it easier. Remember to turn off Visualize Dome before rendering or it will render the colours of the dome :) Either that or just select the ceiling, turn on Emission and put the Ceiling .jpg as the colour then set the Luminance and Units to get the light you need.
