Lyra is a fabulous new addition to the DAZ Store! I work mainly with realism and photorealistic rendering, and am so happy to see such a lifelike character in the store! Would love to see other people's thoughts/renders with her!!

Did this come out today ?
No, a few days ago:

She is beautiful isn't she? As a person who buys very very few 3rd party female characters, I think I bought her faster than any other character I have - male or female LOL.

Lyra is currently my favorite Genesis 8 female figure. Too bad my crappy renders don't do her justice.
LOL, far from crappy IMO! What armor is that?
I see a little bit of Arya Stark (GoT) in her....give her some dark hair..
Now that you mention it, so do I. Give her darker hair and a smaller sword to match Needle and there you go!.
I believe that is Alruna armor from the original Genesis line.
I've never seen GoT so I had to look up Arya Stark, but you're right - it's definitely her. If the character's creator didn't intentionally model the character to look like Arya Stark, it's a very uncanny coincidence. It looks very much like her.
I think it must be intentional, even the name is similar (only one letter difference) Arya and Lyra.
Hey guys. Thanks for the kind words! No Arya in there at all and don't see much resemblance myself but everyone's different. Over on the celebrity look-alike thread someone was saying Elle Fanning which I don't really see much of either but more than Arya. In any case no celebrity has been inspiration for this, all resemblance is pure coinsidence. :)
There have been some excellent renders beside the above like these:

I did like the look of this character (and sales on the store page may have helped ) so here's my first render with her. I'm still pretty new to Daz, so pretty much everything is stock and just the pose tweaked to work better on the bench.
Waiting.
Image took approximately 1hr 20 minutes to render on a GTX 1070 for iray.
Totally off topic - except that I agree that Lyra is an awesome character....And, this is an excellent render!
I see this sort of tile in many 3D sets and shader packages. So clearly, I'm not the only person familiar with this style. In fact, the floor of my kitchen was done in this 8 inch white octagon and black dot style, 20 years ago. NOW, I'm desparately trying to find tiles to replace all the cracked ones. This tile was everywhere back then...a standard offering from many companies. But now, the only source I've found is a company in Spain (cost prohibitive for my little room). I can't even find new old stock anywhere. If anyone knows where to find this tile, please let me know! ;)
I've got to agree that Lyra is a wonderful character and just as importantly, very versatile. I'm still getting to grips with everything in Daz Studio, but this character makes it easy to get some nice results:
Definitely looks a little like Ashildr (Maisie Williams).
Good stuff. What hair is that Dim Reaper?
Thank you!
The hair "SAV Alpha Scalp" from the other big DS/Poser site. It's for V4/M4 and Genesis 1 so it doesn't conform perfectly to Genesis 8, but with a little tweaking it works. I used to use this a lot and now that I've finally found some time to get back into 3d rendering, I still find myself wanting to use it. Although, I just picked this up this morning which is similar, so I'm going to spend some time this afternoon trying it out.
Ah cool. Just was confused for a sec because it looks like my own shaved hair with added pattern :)
Messed up my post - I was trying to say that I just picked up "Buzzed Hair for Genesis, Genesis 2 and Genesis 3" this morning. I just took a look at yours bluejaunte - very nice. It's going into the wishlist as I speak.
I find very short hair like these to be good for many occasions...and it's got nothing to do with my hair being like that to cut down on the amount of grey!
Yeah mine is based on a geoshell, so never any fitting problems it just sits snugly no matter what. And also works for G8 out of the box, doesn't even need to be auto-fitted. Should probably rename that to include G8F :)
Definitely some great renders.
What other site?
You can NAME the other sites...you just can't directly LINK to them.
I thought throwback to be honest. This is sorta how some of the V4 characters look.
Can't explain it, but there was something about a certain era of characters that have this "style".
If I could find an analogy it'd be that some use a certain technology to move towards realism and others use a different approach.
Ah, good to know. I've been away from Daz for the last four and a half years, so I wasn't certain about the rules on posting links to other sites or mentioning them. The hair is available at Renderosity.
when I first saw her I too thought she was based on Maisie Williams from GOT and Doctor Who in some of the promos, and there are others both 3rd party and even Daz originals that look remind me and others of real people seen in film/tv maybe there are maybe not but can see resemblences actually in one of my renders with Michael 8 someone commented elsewhere they thought he looked like the actor that plays Bruce Wayne in the Gotham tv series
I think that part of her charm is that she looks a little like so many different people so with the right lighting and hairstyle you have a very versatile character, personally I think she looks somewhat like Amanda Seyfried.
Here's a few of the renders I've done with her -
(to be honest for the first image I had to back to the original daz scene to check that it was Lyra as she looks so different from the other renders with the long blond hair)
I think that you are on to something there - this is a very versatile character, which is why different people are seeing different "looks" to her. In your "dancing on a table" render (very nice work btw) she reminds me of a young Kirsten Dunst.
Well they are sisters. Quick, someone throw a long red wig on her so we can see, LOL.
So it really is Arya. Since she can impersonate everyone these days.
To me she'll always be plain old Lyra. Glad she turns out to be versatile though. I wish it was intended but at no point did I think "let's make a versatile character". I simply wanted her to be unique. In doing so I've apparently done the exact opposite? She's everyone! Poor girl
