Can you change the scale/size of shaders?

As an example, lets say I wanted to use the scale shaders here: https://www.daz3d.com/scale-shaders

If I apply them to something, like Trex, the scales themselves are huge. I want them to be smaller. Same with any other pattern type shader. Sometimes I want them big, sometimes small.

Any ideas?

  • Generally you should be able to adjust the tiling settings in the Surfaces pane

The scale shaders are specifically 3Delight shaders...

Now, with some shaders, you won't see the proper tiling until the item is rendered.

So taking both those facts into account you need to be rendering in 3DL AND waiting until the render is under way to confirm whether or not they are 'too big'.

  • The product page lists Iray shaders though..

Then make sure you are using the correct version for Iray...and the render is still the final judge.  As mentioned, above, the tiling options under the Surfaces tab will then control the scale.

you only need to change view port draw style as Nvidia iray. it show curent map how tiling.  you may need not actuall final render. but use iray view. to check tiling.  other draw style not show correct current tiling.

If you can not find tiling parameter of the product shader, select surface,   serch in surface tab top filter window , input "tile" etc. if it is shadper preset of iray, it should be found in Geometry> Tiling option. if it is vendor handmade custom MDL shader,  you may need to serch tile scale and off set  property (it must be somewhere)

and I think the product shader seems to use many hand made Texture maps , (not generate prosedure texture) then you can  tweak instance  tiling for each texture map,by DAZ simple image editor.   cilick  the map icon which you hope to change tiling  in surface tab each shader property. then select image editor, and select instance tiling tab.

(though most of case you may better change all texture tiling as same ratio, not only for diffuse map, or normal , bump individually, but sometimes need to tweak individuall map scale, for layered type shader. I feel this product use many layer. then it might be useful too)

and product page discribe aobut LIE editor too, You can more customize with LIE. about each map if you need .

  • Thanks for all the help! Tiling is what I needed although it looks like it will take a while to get what I want through trial and error. It also confused me for the settings since I wanted smaller scales I figured that I would tile smaller (from 1.0 to .5) but nope, I actually need to increase the tiling..

and Iray view does give me a good preview, so thanks for that!

The number is the number of repetions...so 4 repeats the pattern 4x.
