In DS4.5 I can make export something as a pp2 prop file, but I can't make it a smart prop. Anyone know how to do that???

This one I do know. You need a good Text editor, I use Notepad++, Open your pp2 file and in the first declarations look for this

parent UNIVERSE , this needs to be changed to the proper node name and the flag set. Example Right hand would be...

parent rHand:1 , Remember in Parenting the Spelling MUST match, if the node is lHand it must say lHand.

Notepad++ is a nice editor, but one can also use Wordpad if one doesn't want to install a different editor. The one problem with Wordpad is that if one tries to drag-drop the file, it puts it in as an embedded object rather then open it, so one has to 'File/open..'

So could you take that pp2 prop and do a Save>support asset>porp/asset . thus saving it in a duf format and then make it a smart prop? Asking because I am not sure.

Actually haven't figured this out, since Daz 4.5, far as I know, has left behind the pp2 ability :(

Take your Prop, Parent it to the Place you wish Parented at load, select ONLY the object from the Scene Tab and Save as>Support Asset>Figure/Prop Asset. Your item is now saved in DUF format as a smart prop.

EDIT: Be sure your Settings are correct at Save.

DS has never had the ability to make Poser native PP2 files without a plugin.

So you will need this - http://www.mediafire.com/download/3m5gbz5f8bjjgjm/PP2_exporter_20d.dsa.zip

I have only had one issue with it and that is the prop, when loaded in to Poser would ALWAYS rotate around the center of the scene. In DS it will rotate around its own center point however so its not obvious unless you take it into Poser.

I am not sure if the parenting fix will solve that but you can try. Other then that, I can only recommend taking the OBJ into Poser and making it a smart prop there.

For that Issue you can also just edit the PP2 file and change the Axis to the proper Poser axis system. Then the Prop works properly in both Daz Studio and Poser, tip open any Poser made PP2 file and just copy the info. I do.
