Poser version relevance for content creation.

I pretty much stopped making freebies shortly after the computer with Poser 6 installed crashed hard. Didn't like that I couldn't check how things looked in both programs. Yes, I had a backup, but also lost the activation code, and then the old site closed...

So what I need to know is this:
What is the oldest version of Poser that is still relevant for content creation, assuming a Hex/Silo - DS - Poser pipeline?

I found a good deal on Poser 8, 9, and Pro2010. I am not willing to spend anywhere close to $500 for the new Pro version. I'm a native Daz user, so I don't see myself jumping at anything less than an 80% discount there. I just want to be able to tweak and check textures and meshes for users of both programs.

I would think Poser 9 as it is also DSON compatible like Poser2012.

Note that the weight-mapped rigging produced by Poser 2012 is not compatible with DS, and as I recall Poser 9 does not have content creation tools.

    Thanks for the responses.
I wouldn't really need Poser's content creation tools to port them from Daz Studio and tweak textures, would I?

No. You could edit textures in most of the versions you listed as long as the Item loaded. Only P9 and P2012 will support Genesis Items.

for simple props Poser 6 will be enough. Same for characters, figures and other thing, If you want to produse SSS shaders, Self Illuminated things, and than go 9.. Also 9 does support Genesis with DSON, but do not expect wonders :)

For use and renderings, go 9 if you can :)
