Xenia hair mucking around in my registry keys

Hi,

Why does Daz need to muck around in my registry keys when I install
one of their newer products?

During installation, I got this message from my antivirus etc. suite:

14403_xeniahairv4_1.1_dpc.exe frp, low restricted group is trying to create
a subkey/parameter in a protected registry key from the Operating system / startup
settings group

And I have to let it if I want to install. This does not please me.

Did you allow it to create an uninstaller and a start menu entry for that?

I don't want an uninstaller and I especially don't want all my daz products listed in my start menu.

Soo....Why is Daz content trying to muck around in my registry keys????

Ugh, that's a major pet peeve of mine when plugins or addons for a program create their own startup shortcuts or Programx86 folders;.

...save for the plugins (which don't allow you to change any settings), I always tick the "Custom Installation" box and turn those options off when installing.

Does that mean you did or didn't turn the option off? One fix is to use the Install Manager instead of downloading the individual isntallers.

FWIW, this is something I'd always recommend to anyone who isn't switching over to using the DIM. As soon as you've gained enough experience to know what you're doing with installation, don't ever use the "all defaults" setting. I'm not sure what DAZ thought they were doing when they were sorting out the basic way all their content installers would work, but some of those default behaviours are just plain not a good idea if you're building up a large collection of stuff. The uninstaller and start menu clutter aren't the only nuisances.

...been doing so much manual installing over the last few weeks that is is all a rhythm thing now

    Launch installer
Tick "Yes" box to Agree to EULA
    Click on *Custom Setup*
Verify installer path (change if necessary)
    Click on "Next" Button
    Un-tick options boxes.
Click on "Next" Button, yada yada...

Open next installer in folder, shampoo, rinse, repeat, etc...

I think I've even been doing it in my sleep now.
