have you read through the luxus thread? There was a mention of SLG there. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/18543/

Oh and just to make things more clear, Luxus is plug-in, the more precise question would be does LuxRender use SLG. I know it can use the CPU and GPU at the same time in Hybrid mode but you do need an OpenCL compatable graphic card.

Quotes from the big thread concerning SLG:

SLG will work with Luxus as soon as LuxRender 1.3 is released. Render speeds with it using a decent video card are crazy fast, but SLG lacks a lot of material and lighting support at the moment so it’s effectively great for quick test renders but probably not what you’ll want to use for a final.

SLG is a totally different rendering engine, with different material handling and it’s non-spectral and there are quite a few things it doesn’t support at all. Results with SLG will ALWAYS be different from “Big Lux”. Depending on the scene you are constructing, this may or may not be a big deal. But with Lux 1.3, it’s easy to see how your scene would look after conversion to SLG, since LuxRender can convert it for you itself.

SLG stands for SmallLux GPU, and is a horribly cut-down version of the real deal. Because it's entirely reliant on the GPU, everything it requires must fit inside the Graphics memory, meaning it often reduces the texture size making most objects look horribly basic. It's decent enough if you're only using Lux's own materials, but they're not all fully supported and probably never will be since hybrid is really the way things are heading.

There are workarounds to get SLG to work under Luxus, but I wouldn't recommend them as the material settings will likely cause your system to freeze.

Here is someone who figured out how to use the extra settings and the Beta 1.3 LuxRender
