If you read the "What's Included & Features", it doesn't say anything about coming with the gun. That is, most likely, a different product altogether.

All the What's Included says it comes with are:
    StealthMech Figure (CR2)
9 DAZ Studio Body & 8 Glow Mats (.DSA)
    10 Poser Body & 8 Glow Mats (.PZ2)
    10 Poses
    13 Diffuse, Bump & Specular Maps (2048 x 2048)
    1 Reflection & Brushed Metal Maps (1024 x 1024)

Nowhere does it say anything about any guns.

Why was it in the promos and not mentioned? Didn't they used to list products that appeared in the promo but weren't included?

Nope. They've never done that. If you look at a lot of the various character products, they all are dressed with hair, various clothes, etc, but don't come with those items unless it's specifically stated that they do in the What's Included, nor are those items specified as being used in the promos. That's why we often get questions on the boards about different outfits or hair used in various promos.

My guess is that the gun in the promo is, likely, part of an expansion pack.

Yes they did. Related products or something like that.
Never mind... I'll find something similar elsewhere.

The "Related Products" was never products used in the promo pictures. They were, and still are, simply products in the same "theme" as the one currently being browsed. There was never a specific list of additional products used in the given promos.

This was asked before the gun isn't include and hasn't been released in a product yet. On the old forum post that asked about the gun, it was said that it was to be part of a weapons pack that was under development.

Kendra makes a very nice point. It is always really frustrating to me when I see a great set that uses so many elements that are not listed. I would also think that DAZ would want all elements in the promos listed since it could naturally boost sales across other related items.

Sometimes I have seen stuff over at Renderosity that list the items used and 99% of the time I bought those related items since that fit nicely with the clothes, etc.

...for a short while (before the site change) there was mention of "Items used in promo". That has since disappeared.

Renderosity does indeed list the items used in promo pictures, at least in their Freebie section. I don't really shop there for paid items. However, I've never seen the Daz store do that in all the time I've been registered.

I have seen it done here occasionally, but I don't think it was a consistent practice even before the site change.

two promo pics do show the gun, and a new or casual user might not understand what those files included mean. CR2, that's very vague; does that mean it comes not come with boots, or a helmet or some other item shown in the promos? If so why is on the consumer to figure it out when they could simply put it in the description:

    • Gun Not Included

CR2 is a Poser file type. They're Poser Character files. The Steath isn't a suit of armor. It's a mech, a robot. It's a figure in its own right.

    LOL.

OK, for my serious reply now . . .

I don't think there was ever an official way of handling this, but I have seen some of the PA's include text in their promo images stating what's not included in the content, even though they're using it in the promo.

Here's an example from Aiko 3.0 Body Armor http://www.daz3d.com/aiko-3-0-body-armor

On the 3rd and 4th promo images, it states “Projectz hair and pistol not included. Treadz sold seperately”

Thank you to all the PA's that do that.

Yes, A Charater Resource v2 which is a data file that points to a OBJ or PMD or OBZ file for the geometries, I know. A CR2 can be a human, or a robot, but it can also be a suit of armor, a pair of socks, a cellphone, an office building, a gun, or basically anything that is a noun. 2 promo pics show the same gun and it's prominent in both images.
A CR2 is not the sole property of Curios Labs btw, it's also a file extension sometimes associated with raw digital imagery.

The main text specifically tells you what this is—a mech, a robot.

Swift, Silent, and Deadly the Coalition designed these mechs for extreme wet work missions that required effeciency and stealth above all else. If you are looking for a sleek mech to do your dirty work - this is the one. The What's Included info tells you everything included in the set, including the base CR2 file for the Mech itself. It says nothing about a CR2 for the gun, nor any other accessories.
