I think that the vendor controls what sells in what bundles, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that one. I guess this hasn't really bothered me much since I'm an insane finger-on-the-button kind of guy for stuff I really want. I see Nyu, I gotta have Nyu. I see Aiko, I gotta have Aiko. I see Kimberly... well, you get the idea.

I'd be ecstatic if they actually did release fully inclusive bundles, but I guess the reason this isn't always possible is because some of the items might be released by other vendors. Not everyone works on everything after all, and it's something I've noticed a lot in past releases including both Young Teens and Aiko 5.

Still, it's interesting food for thought.

...If there was a full Kimberly bundle that included the main Character, Accessories, Clothing Textures, and Poses (as everything is by 3DU) I'd definitely consider it.

So far I feel one of the best recent bundle deals for the money was the Young Teens5 Pro Bundle (even without the "glitch pricing" that occurred on the day it was released) as it included a lot of useful content from clothing, to character MATs, to hair, to poses. On top of that, if you bought the bundle during its introduction week, the Faces of Teens expressions pack was free.

I updated the first post to include an addtional proposal that may one solution to that issue:

If related addon items are released that for some reason cannot be included in the "launch day" bundles then those addon items might just be released a few days later.

The problem with that is that it would be unfair on the vendors who released the other items. After all, they're far more easily going to get sales on the release day because enterprising individuals (like myself) will want the complete set. It might also lead to frustration from buyers for the exact same reason.

You make some very interesting points, and I have to say it's certainly worth thinking about. I suppose the only people who can answer that are the publishers and Daz themselves. I feel that Daz tends to be pretty on the ball with this though. When you click one of their advertisements for a character it brings you to a page with the complete list of new items for that character. An example if you look at the Kimberly page is that it shows the extra textures, the poses and the expressions packages despite three of them being from a different publisher.

Still, I'd be very interested to see those statistics. I personally feel that bundles probably do get more sales, largely because people feel they're saving money and partly because we like everything wrapped up in one place so we don't have to add multiple items to our cart. But who knows? Perhaps I'm terribly wrong and the extras see booming sales because of the cheaper bundles.

Such tantalizing data us buyers are probably better off not knowing.

Which makes sense from the behind-the-scenes point of view, but is irrelevant to the customer-experience issue of buying a "complete" bundle only to find that it's nowhere near complete in any customer-facing sense, nor was there an actually complete bundle available. There are plenty of multi-vendor bundles available in the DAZ store, why not this time?

There were some figure bundles like A3 and Freak that were advertised as complete. Since the release of V4, the figure bundles are advertised as starter or pro and some even have pro suites.

Often when you see a multi-vendor bundle it's all buyouts/DAZ Originals - DAZ has bought the items from the vendors to sell themselves and thus can package them as they like. Otherwise, with things like the MBS bundle offered by Marieah and I, all products in the bundle are collaborative.

If you make an item and someone else makes a related item but it's completely separate, it's problematic to entangle your billing with theirs, because the items don't often cost the same and your split for them would not logically be 50/50. I'm not sure there's even a way for us to do that (other PAs please correct me if I'm wrong).

Definitely agreed with the point on vendors separating textures from the main product. When I buy a product on Renderosity, RuntimeDNA, (or really, most other places) I get a good number of textures included. When I buy a product on DAZ, in many cases I get between one and three textures and have to purchase an add-on (from the same vendor) for maybe nine additional ones? This is really annoying.

If I buy the clothing in almost every case I also buy the texture set. So why not just include them ...

I think because both you and I (and most other folks) have been doing this, there's no reason for vendors to not separate textures from the main product itself. Oh well.

I almost never get texture sets unless they've been packaged with a bundle of other things, so I rather like them being separate from the figure.

In DAZ's Platinum Club the clothing products usually come with a basic texture, and more textures are released at the same time and (usually, depending on popularity) later. This is because the vast majority of PlatClub items sell at the fixed price of $1.99, and DAZ can't sell them at too much of a loss -- (and I'm okay with that because, even with this otherwise annoying double-dipping, they're still some of the best bargains in this market). Maybe the PAs here feel fine following suit because most of the customers here are used to it?

But between more careful spending, some excellent fabric shader products, and DAZ4.5's ability to make new material zones? I'm a lot more reluctant to buy PA texture sets unless something really catches my eye or they're in a good bundle.

Agreed, I never buy texture sets, kinda pointless when i own an image editing software IMO.
I usually don't buy bundles either, they are usually full of items i have no interest in. If they were bundled smartly with needed items and not fluff, it might be different.

I really like bundles. I usually opt for the Pro bundles because it has generally been the best deal when you consider all the items included. My biggest gripe is when promos of character use Hair or other items not part of the character or bundle set cause I just feel it is really misleading. If it is Pro bundle, make it a pro set and include everything used in the promos. I also would say that I find it annoying that many bundles are changing. I noticed that the M5 and V5 bundles seem to now have different clothes than the bundle I got.
