Render in .hdr format

Don't know if this is on everybodies wishlist since forever. I just discovered the possibility to render 360. If I could save that render as an .hdr that would be a huge time saver.

Let's say I want to make a number of scenes in Stonemasons Streets of London. If I could make just one .hdr render of it, I could then just add characters and render with Streets of London as an .hdr. Would save hours! (I hope).

I have tried to render it as a .jpg and then convert it to .hdr but the light from the converted .hdr doesn't do the job properly.

  • You can save an image to .exr if you use the Canvasses feature in Iray - it's in the Advanced tab, just turn it on by the checkbox and create a new Beauty pass layer - when you save the regule image a sub-folder of the same name plus Canvasses will be created with the .exr file(s).
