Using Studio, Bryce and other graphics programs in Win8

Okay this is a bit off topic, but I am curious.
I used a friends new computer that has Windows 8 on it (my machine is old and has Vista) and wow! They totally changed the user interface in Windows 8. I had issues with just printing a PDF, the lack of menus had me using the short cut keys that I remembered and the lack of the minimize, maximize and close buttons threw me as well.

Has anyone upgraded to it and how does it work with graphics programs like Daz Studio and Bryce? Do they love it? Hate it? Indifferent?
I know you can buy 3rd part add on to make it look like an older version of windows, but really that seems on the extreme end of things!

Thank you kindly,

Amy

THere was quite a loong discussion about Bryce in Win 8 http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/11544/ in the Bryce Forum. Seems some got it working fine, some had trouble.

They didn't really "get rid of" the minimize, maximize, and such buttons. They just have programs on the Start screen that are Windows 8 specific that may not have them. When you go to the Desktop it looks pretty much the same as previous Windows, and any pre-Windows 8 programs look the same as always. In fact most programs, new and old, still work basically the same way.

I've used Studio, Hex and Cararra and they all work ok in W8. Once you get used to the new oddities of the system (as opposed to the old oddities) it just becomes part of your workflow.

The hardest part of Windows 8 for me was figuring out how to turn it off. Really, there are no instructions in the installation package,

Thank you guys for the replies.
Like most people (at least I think most us...) I hate to do major upgrades and overhauls. It tends to make a mess of things and the new quirks that always seem to show up drive me nuts for the first bit, then I settle down and can deal with it.
It looks like my machine will putter along for a bit longer yet, so I won't have to upgrade yet right away.
