Parent an Object to Two Parts?

Is there a way to parent an item to two parts? For example, if I had a spear that was being held by both hands, could I parent the spear to both the left hand and right hand so that I could move the spear and the hands would follow? Or do I parent the HANDS to the spear? Thanks for any help.

mCasual has a script for that on his website. You can't simply parent the hands to the prop as they're already parented to the arms, and an item can only have one parent, not multiples. The auto-limb script will help that though.

Quick work around. Load two Spears, Parent the second Spear to the first one use the eye Icon in Scene to HIDE the second spear. Now parent one hand to Spear one and the other hand to Spear two. Use the spear one for all the moving ect for fine adjustments.

The hand is hierarchical. It's attached to the forearm after all, and therefore you can't change the parent. The best you can do is change the FIGURE parent, which would have a totally different effect. The best way is to parent a spear to a hand and move the hands, but obviously if you have a two handed object, you need to move both.

The script I linked to will allow you to move both hands with an object.

Okay did a quick test in DS4.5 and my method is a Flop. I used it in DS3 with a barbell on just one pose. You never know till you try. So ignore my idea it's okay for a single pose but not for changing poses on the same figure.

You're describing IK tracking. Simple enough in Carrara but I'm not sure how the IK system in Studio is set up. Hopefully an expert will be able to help.
