The Igigi

http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/the-igigi

Known to many ancient cultures as "The luminous Ones", the Igigi are the architects of life on Earth.
So proud they were of their creation that many became enamoured with the world the life they made that they fell from their celestial home and were forced to live out their lives among their creation as fallen beings, hunting that which they once had created.

Product Includes:

• Two Igigi Morphs
• Four Textures (diffuse, displacement and specularity maps)
• Three Eye Textures (diffuse, displacement and specularity maps)
• Two Genital Textures (diffuse, displacement and specularity maps)

Oh yes, this will be very useful

"Sometimes to create, one must first destroy..."

Excellent stuff, and good job drawing the parallel of Engineers and ancient Sumerian legends - the part that stumped so many because the links weren't laid-on-a-plate in the movie exposition (but ironically, overfamiliarity with the legends might spoil the surprise of the next movie if they give a fair idea what might happen next - but then, few people are as big a history nut as me, LOL).

    Looking forward to it

    MINE

Seriously, that's looking awesome. Nice lighting too, it's so hard to light a very pale skin.

Sadly...the last I read was that plans for a second movie have stopped. :(
Which is a real shame...I loved the first and wanted to see them take it to the home world of the engineers.

As for the Sumerian legends. I always enjoyed them, they really can tie so many different belief systems together, like they all emerged out from the same source ;)

Well...can't speak for anyone else, but this pretty well sums up what confused me. Oh, and this. And the concept that anyone could possibly run about after...you know. Everyone who watched it knows.

I still got a kick out of it. I thought the back- and side-stories far outshone the main plot, and it was a beautiful, beautiful film visually.

The characters look great, Rawn. I'm excited. Are these the ones you were tweaking the materials for in the SSS thread?

Would it be possible to turn his skin black? I could really use a black version of the texture.

She's a mutant descendant of the Zoolanders and she can't turn right, either? That was my best theory.

You probably just didn't realize how effective surgical staples are at completely closing and then regeneratively healing injuries. Why, the number of people who are up and frolicking about moments after abdominal surgery is... Zero. The number is zero. Don't know why I brought it up.

But I still think giant albinos are kinda hot.

    Ummm...no

The intent of this character was to make it very white and luminous.
Black skin would have been the exact opposite direction.
It is hard to make something glowing black ;)

Can I have a sparkling unicorn version of this character? Not for Horse 2, for Genesis. With free dance animations.
    /chainpull

    I like that there's a madeup/plain version, that's a good promo for information's sake.

    Be nice SickleYield :)
This is nice!, another buy for me, Prince Albane texture can get some rest now with this one.

*Also SickleYield does have a pale and dark version of texture sets, you might want to look at: SY The Dark One Genesis.

    CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

...No, seriously though. White's pure reflectance of light, black's pure absorption. Glowing goes past reflection to emit more light than hits the surface. I wonder what the other end of the spectrum would look like, where a surface absorbed more light than hit the surface. Obviously this doesn't exist in real life, but 3Delight shaders aren't constrained by such petty things as physics. I'm curious now.

Especially if one takes into account that 'glowing' can occur in only one part of the spectrum. For example, a fluorescent yellow takes wavelengths from the blue-green end of the spectrum, and emits the energy from it as yellow. So, backwards fluorescence would be one angle. Taking the longer, warmer wavelengths and emitting that energy as shorter, cooler wavelengths. In moonlight, the character might blend into a warm background, whereas in the sunlight, he'd actually be visibly bluer/darker. Metamerism on a different level than exists in real life [as far as I know].

Now the question is how to translate this artistically - a literal interpretation might not register to the mind's eye.

    [I know, I know, it's not really glowing. It's like... anti-glowing. Shhhhhhhh. ]

Edited because I had the spectrum backwards for a section.

Good lord, no, never put one of my character sets next to Raw's. I'm giving that a rest 'til I get Zbrush and master it. ;)

But seriously, YES. I've been overusing Albane and he looks a little more human than I usually want for this application.

I like how you managed the halo effect around the head of the benign looking one. Good work. Now if I could only learn to do that. =-)

The halo was post worked in photoshop.
Just a new layer behind the head with a blob of light yellow and a Gaussian blur.

I have those, and your Xpansion for them, but I was wondering if your V4 Creature Wings (http://www.daz3d.com/v4-creature-wings) can be fitted to Genesis. The bat-like wings would be useful, and the metallic feather textures for them in CC Wings Variety Pack (http://www.daz3d.com/ccwings-variety-pack) would let me get some visual effects I haven't managed with Epic Wings.

Back on topic, the Luminous Ones look very interesting; into my cart they go!

The wings are made by daz...i just did textures for them
So you would have to talk to them about a refit.
I agree though, it would be handy
