http://www.daz3d.com/modern-muses-amalie/ -- the link, and the features are worth a peek!

I almost titled this post, "No, really, I haven't been kidnapped by aliens!" but... heck, maybe that would get more clicks! *scratches her chin, and considers this for next time* Amalie works a little differently -- in Poser at least -- than you're likely used to. It's not a change that makes anything more complicated on your end, but opens up a world of interesting possibilities for skin tints and other effects that previously were only relatively easy in DAZ|Studio, and required additional plugins or extensive fiddling in the material room in Poser. (BTW -- this pack has DS4 support as well, so no one has been left in the cold here!)

No, not kidnapped by aliens, but by the material room -- again. And months of trial, error, experimentation in python tweaks, (usually more error), and other stuff that makes Amalie a little different behind the curtain.

There might be another surprise before the end of the day, but I make no promises. ;)

Hi Surreality! I really love your creations :) So happy to see this, and thanks for the sale! I will have to GenX the morphs, but am wondering, are the wide variety of skin colors shown in the promo picture also available in Daz Studio as well as in Poser? Thanks! -Cathy

I'm not quite sure which morph INJ to apply to get the heads in DAZ Studio.
There is the "help" the "custom" and then the head 1.
But when I applied the head 1 alone, nothing seemed to change.
It's late, could be me. :)

So glad you are back Surreality.
I had truly given up all hope, alien or otherwise. :)

I'm very glad you are back, Surreality! I was worrying about you being kidnapped by aliens ^_^"

And your new character is very beautiful :)

But is there a chance to get Genesis version of morphs? I don't use V4 anymore and, while I can use textures just fine, you are the one of few creators with characters I actually like to use as morphs too.

For the morphs: You want to click the 'custom INJ' file first -- then the head MOR file one. That gives you the custom morph dial, and the second spins 'em. (That way, if you want to use the head morph in combination with other morph packs you own, you can mix it in more easily at the strength you like. ;) )

For the skin tints: These aren't included in the DAZ|Studio version, as DAZ|Studio allows you to adjust the tints far, far, far more easily than Poser does. (Also, creating the files to just adjust tint without fussing with the textures was proving more problematic than the Poser version, which is saying something!)

To adjust skin tints in DAZ|Studio, you open the surface tab, and go to Victoria4 (or genesis if you're porting it over with the V4 mapping to Genesis), and select all the skin surfaces -- these are all preceded by a 1, 2, or 3 in the surfaces list. Scroll to where you see 'diffuse color' -- and then, and this is where DAZ|Studio will kick the Poser version's butt three ways to Sunday -- you can select any color you like rather than using the random color selection I've set up for the Poser version. This technique works with any character (or clothing, or hair... ), too -- not just Amalie. It's one of the features of DAZ|Studio that is wonderfully versatile. :) This can only be done in Poser through creating entirely new sets of MATs for each version, or going to each material one by one, which is a bit of a nightmare! ;)

Edit: For morphs for Genesis, I'd suggest porting them with GenX. The final version of the head morphs (the MOR files, which are what you see in the promos) are hybrids, mixing morphs from M++ with the custom sculpt. As a result, I can't include ports of them myself in the product -- that would be including data I don't own in the final result. It's possible to do this yourself as the end user, I just can't do it for sale as a vendor.

Let me just say I love this texture! :cheese:

This "test" render uses one V4 (center) with Amalie's head morph 1 dialed to 100% (I don't have Morphs++ so I didn't use the MOR poses), and two Genesis figures. The Genesis on the left is the default V4 shape with the default, no makeup Amalie skin. The Genesis on the right is 25% TamesisHuman, 25% V5 + 25% V5 Supermodel, 25% S4 shape, and 25% Julie. I used the lighting preset that comes with the Andrea character by ARTCollaborations (awesome portrait light, btw).

It's a DS4.5/3Delight render, but I'm struck with how the skin resembles Poser skin (to me, at least). Don't want to get into a debate about whether Poser or DS is better, but I feel that Poser skin has a distinctive appearance, and this render comes very close to it.

Hope you all enjoy, and thank you surreality for this beautiful character! :)

Got her and she's gorgeous! Thank you for continuing to make V4.2 characters. Especially those that will still work in Poser 7, yeah, I know I'm behind the times, and I do have PoserPro 12 but the old computer just wont handle it. So until I can invest in a new PC, I'm stuck with Poser 7.

She's beautiful and in my cart! :D In certain promos she reminds me of Morrigan from Dragon Age. :)

BTW, sorry I haven't been around much--I had a hard crash of Windows. Didn't lose anything important, but I haven't re-installed Windows (or Skype) yet because of being tired out from health problems (running on Linux in the meantime...). I should be back again soon, as I'm on the mend.

    Aha!!! Here you are!!!!! :D

Curious about those icons that have "help" on them - they are for Poser only, am I correct? Took me a bit to figure that out....having a not so great week. LOL.

Beautiful renders, both of you! :)

Here's another of mine. This is Genesis...the shape is mainly Addison with some Tamesis mixed in. The texture of course is Amalie. Also used: Andromedas Legend, Return to the Enchanted Forest, Gregoria Hair. Lighting is a modification of Lantios Lights 2 #8.
    1st: DS4.5 render. No postwork.
    2nd: postwork in GIMP.

Um, I think I have a bit of problem here...

I used DS 4 settings with DS 4.5, but it looks like translucency (I think it is translucency) doesn't work much. This setup has a pretty strong backlight (along with specular, common and environmental lights) but the ear is dark and it doesn't look like light is shining through it or any other parts. Translucency and SSS channels only have a texture for a face surface, but not for other surfaces although those channels are both active and have same color and strength as face surface. I don't know what to do to make it look more realistic. I tried to up the strength of translucency but Amalie loses that cool look she has -_-
    Here is a render

I have no idea what to tell you re: lighting issues in DS; I am not and never was a DS expert and lighting I can't do worth beans in DS or Poser, unfortunately, and I can't troubleshoot every lighting setup on the market for someone. That's simply impossible.

As to the texture in translucence/SSS, that is a mask for the brows, to prevent the hairs themselves from appearing as the same type of surface as the skin. :) As it only applies to the brows, it's only applied to the face area.
