Hi, I wonder if someone can give me advice on Opacity use on DAZ. I can make a nice ball gown with lace in marvelous designer (the blue dress pictured) but getting the same look in Daz surface tab has become a huge mess. I have tried to make sure ever setting is the same on MD and Daz but having no luck. I've included screen shot to show how different MD and Daz look. Please note there are two layers to this dress. A solid layer on the bottom and a lace layer on top. For example the skirt had two layer, top and bottom ~ Thanks Kimberly

I'm unfamiliar with MD. Possibly posting a screenshot of your settings (The Surface tab in DAZ Studio, and whatever settings MD has) would help.
To use the "Opacity Strength" parameter in DAZ Studio, set the value to 100, then click on the down arrow icon in front of it to browse to an image file. Black areas in this image correspond to solid, non-transparent parts and white areas in this image correspond to transparent parts. Shades of grey will be partly but not completely transparent.

Hi, I can do this in poser material room but for some reason in Daz I can't. I'd like to learn what I am doing wrong in Daz.

Here my setting in both Daz and MD. It doesn't look like it in the image but the lace is a jpg with a white background.

    Thanks

Unless I'm missing something, it doesn' t look like you have selected an image for the Opacity Strength parameter (circled in red)?

This is incorrect: D|S "Opacity" maps work the same way as Poser "Transparency" maps, and are interchangeable. White is opaque, black is transparent.

Thanks, I had to black to start with and thought maybe daz was opposite for some reason. I will try again and load the map in the opacity strength.
