My DAZ3d icon is missing

Each time I update DS, it removes my icon from my desktop. I'm not sure how to start the program without it. It's not listed in the Windows 10 app list (although DIM is)

Go to the drive where your DAZ Program is installed (normally, that would be C-Drive).

    Go to this directory: C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4

In it, you will find a file that says "DAZ Studio.exe". Select it, then right-click. From the menu that appears, select "create shortcut"(I think that is how it's called in English?). It then gives you an error message that it can't create the shortcut in that particular folder, and asks you if it can create it on the desktop instead.

That should bring back the icon, though I agree that the new installation should make a new shortcut icon.

  • That sounds like something is interfering with the installation, DS should be in the DAZ3D group in the application list. What security software are you running? Can yous tart DS by opening a file browser and going to C://Program Files/Daz 3D/DazStudio4 and double-clicking the .exe file? If so you could just right-click on that, drag it to your desktop, and from the menu choose Create Shortcut Here.

  • I cant click the icon there to start the program. It's just a white box, not the usual DS icon. When I click it, it tells me I dont have permission.  I am running Norton. Should I disable it?

  • I am trying to redownload the program without success.  I select download the program for win64, i am then directed to my product library. I click on DAZ 4.9 pro and .... nothing....no button to continue, selection just turns color. doesn't move to selected, no option to go further

  • also, i was not correct. I am running Macafee on the computer that I run DS on

Do you install manually, or using DIM? I'm a bit confused regarding your description of program download.

  • mcAfe is know to have caused issues recently, though the lack of permission may indicate that you ran DIM or DS as administrator at some point.

  • I initially installed using DIM. I would love to just download a zip file and see if I can work throught this

  • No zip file, but you can download a stand-alone isntalled from your Product Library. However, I don't think it would yield different results. Try disconnecting from the Internet, disabling McAfee, installing DS, reenabling McAfee, and reconnecting.

Which version are you trying to install and what operating system are you using?

    It says DAZ3DIM1 not DAZStudio4

That is Install Manager, which you can then use to install daz Studio and some or all of your content.
