Best specs for running Daz on an external drive

I've come to the conclusion that neither one of my comps can really handle what I want to do on Daz but I don't have the money to buy a pc that does. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of external hard drive would best suit?

    a fast external drive
    if your system supports USB 3 or ESata or thunderbolt and you can find a dedicated external drive capable of the sustained rates those connections offer any drive will do.
    If you're looking to save $$$ and go with USB 2.0 expect your drive to be about 6x slower accessing your runtime than your current internal drive.
