Hi,
I'm interested in some clothing for my V5 but I'm not clear on what is meant by "for Genesis Female". Maybe someone can help clarify what clothes/hair etc. will work with what characters.
I have M5 and V5 - does that mean that no V4 versions or older are compatible? As for the Genesis Female - is that the basic figure that came with Daz 3D? I'd prefer to focus on the Genesis figures, rather than spread myself thin...

Anything for Genesis (male or female) or any Generation 5 figure (v5, M5, D5, F5, etc.) is usable on any Genesis shape, though not all clothing will adjust appropriately to some of the more extreme shapes. But, yes, you can put Freak in that sexy little bikini that Hitomi wears if you're so inclined. :)
Auto-fit, which comes with DS4.5 Pro, can be used to fit V4, M4 and K4 clothing to Genesis, with varying degrees of results. (Shirts and pants are usually fine, shoes and skirts not so much)
Genesis can also use any skin textures for Generation 4 (V4, M4, K4). M4 and K4 will require changing the UV map to the appropriate figure, but they will work.
Using the actual character morphs requires GenX, which is a useful, but not cheap, plug-in that transfers V4 and M4 morphs to Genesis.
If it says Genesis, it will work on ANY Genesis figure. If a dress is designed for Genesis Female, it will work on the Base Female, Victoria 5, Stephanie 5...or on Michael 5, David 5, Genesis Troll, MS Lycan, or any other figure that is based on Genesis. You might get some poke-through on figures that differ a lot from the shape the clothes were designed for (Mr. Hyde and Freak 5, for example, are a lot bigger and more heavily muscled), but that's something that can be fixed with various techniques.
Autofit will let you put clothing for Gen 4 and Gen 3 figures on Genesis. It usually works pretty good, except for shoes. So, you could put pants for Michael 3 or Victoria 4 on any Genesis figure. You may want to check YouTube for some of the DAZ videos. Here's a few links:

I will definitely watch the videos too. And, no, I'm not planning to dress Freak or Troll in a bikini. At least not yet, anyway...

I was tempted to put the Troll and Freak in ladies' clothes for you, but instead, here's Victoria 5, with Mitsu Hair for Aiko 3 (not the Genesis version), and the Bikini for She-Freak (it's for Victoria 4). It's not a great render, and I could spend more time on the hair, but it works well enough to show that the older clothes & hair can work on Genesis figures. The Genesis version of the hair does fit better, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have nearly as many morphs as the Gen 3 version. I used smoothing on the clothes (there was some poke-through) and the hair to get them to fit better, after I fit each item to Genesis.
It looks good to me, though I would still like to see the Troll or Freak version too :)
It's great knowing what flexibility there is, what will work and what won't. I can see I have a lot of work ahead of me, but it's fun too!
Ok, here's the Troll in the Morphing Fantasy Dress, and Freak 5 in Hongyu's bikini. The troll seems to be thinking, "that bikini is so NOT his color...".
