I guess third time's the charm? I think I'm just getting old...

First time I tried ds4 and genesis I hated it like a snake hates anything nearby. I shot venom and made hissing noises.

Second time, which mind you was a week ago, I was miserable and depressed and ditched it in a fit of pique, refunding my genesis items.

Third time, yesterday, something snapped. I was sitting on the couch and I couldn't stop thinking about it. It wasn't so bad. Genesis was neat. There's tons of new goodies to buy... it was like eating that new dinner entree and thinking, yuck but then a minute later the aftertaste says, "I want more of that."

I repurchased my goodies and tried it again and... dear god, I'm hooked.

I don't what's wrong with me lol. Turning 40 just sucks, avoid it at all costs.

Anyway, I know I moaned and whined in this forum a few times and you were all so patient -and frankly, the help you gave was not only invaluable but it helped hook me on what I'm sure will keep me broke for the next year.

Thanks -and sorry, all. *sheepish grin*

Glad to see you're enjoying it at last. I think we've all been a little frustrated at one point or other that things weren't quite going to plan, but it's good to see you stuck at it. I don't think any one person here claims to know it all, but collectively we can at least offer advice to get you on the right track. That said, feel free to pick our brains should you get any other issues or queries. I've found the community to be considerably helpful most times.

Chris realized that the types of characters required in production can be viewed as variations of the fundamental human form.

    I...I just...there are no words.

"Jay realized that the types of coatings used to enhance objects can be viewed as variations on a pigment/binder system."

Paint chemist and that is so going on my resume right now. Way to minimize the fact that this is common knowledge, not some new innovative discovery.

I'll be 43 next month as well (the 17th). And, I hated DAZ Studio when it first came out. I was a Poser guy all the way. Now, I don't even remember where I stored my Poser runtime. Partly because I don't use it, and partly because of the over-40 thing. :-) If it ain't staring me in the face every day, I tend to forget about it.

Oh, and my 2 cents... premade figures are totally ok. Are not Versace and Lagerfeld and Coco Chanel designers because they made their clothing from store bought fabric, made by someone else? Are Michelangelo and Rembrandt among the only true artists because they mixed their own paint and stretched their own canvases? It's what you do with the tools you start with that makes you an artist.

I think I can give most of you a year or two and I can never understand why people say one loses ones memory as one gets older.

I can still remember things that happened oh lets see um err what was it I was talking about.

Age is just a number. And nothing is wrong with my memory. I know I have holes in my head and things just dribble out while I'm not looking. I figure it's fine as long as I know it's happening. Besides Tv is so much better when nothing is a re-run.

Hey look Andy Griffith is on... I've not seen this one before.

TV? TV? ......................... Oh yes I remember that is the thing that my eldest commandeered to plug his spectrum into. We replaced it with a better computer that had it's own monitor and got rid of the TV as it was just taking up space.

I remember rabbit ears and big dials on TVs that went "CHUNK CHUNK CHUNK CHUNK CHUNK" when you "channel surfed" the 7 out of 13 channels that comprised all of television land.

The worst thing about turning 60 is realizing you're not going to be able to retire ... ever.

The worse part of being retired, nobody want's to let you work again.

    Double edged sword it seems.
