Studio 1.7 (& Bryce 6)

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Pretty funny I gotta login in having been directed here from my registered copy of Studio.

Anyway, It's easy enough to do a 1 second clip to then get that into bryce. The earlier version of studio's Timeline was more intuitive or clearly demarcated. In this version I can't figure out how to make anything longer than 1 second. How do you "stretch" the timeline?

Also, I just noticed the latest version of studio is free. I had major compatibility issues when I tried to put version 2.x over 1.7 (or replaced, can't remember). I had to uninstall the former. Anyone know if 4.5 will be able to both function with bryce while also finding all my previously installed objects etc? That last attempt I wound up having to reinstall every object I had..

But ain't it cool when an ani imports nicely into bryce........

Oh yes, is there a way to change the view point in studio Without that getting "recorded" into the ani sequence? The last version was much clearer, with that key frame button etc.

Thanks

sorry to say you can not sent any animation over to Bryce from DS 4.5 .
to stretch - in the first box on the left ( put in how many frames you want ) then click box 3 on the left .
you have to uninstall 1.7 before installing 2 - now DS 4.5 can be used with 2 - no uninstall needed .

Ah, figured it out (by getting closer to screen as these fonts are friggin tiny). The problem was clicking the small "display the active tab options". Now I see the boxes and second line.... Seeing I'm here, what Is that second timeline for?

But thanks and it sounds like we'll pass on 4.5. Do you know if bryce will ever take plug ins? It would be nice if we could get a modeler in there and some other dynamic effects like rolling mist or laser stuff. Bryce 7 is out and I'm not sure if upgrading to that will lead to incompatibility with earlier versions (not to mention studio 1.7). I can't get anything I made in 5 into 6 for example.

Bryce 7 can read files created in all earlier versions back to Br2. I can't conform if it will also open Br1 files as that version was Mac only and I use a PC.

Similarly Br6 will open Br5 files

BTW, with careful installation you can also run all versions of Bryce on the same computer. I currently have Br 5 and Br 7 pro installed, other people I know still have all versions installed.

Bryce 7 also works well with the DS bridge in DS 4.5 I am told, but again I cannot conform this as I prefer to use Poser as I always have done. :red:

1 - are you talking about aniMate timeline ?
    2 - plug-in - don't think so - Bryce 7 doesn't have any .
3 - people make models all the time in Bryce - just hard to do .
4 - dy. effect can be done - don't know what you want .
5 - well you can install all the versions of Bryce on your computer at the same time .
6 - you can open old file ( Bryce 2 on up ) just click the open button and pick what you want .

My Bryce 6 won't take what I did in Bryce 5. I have to use Bryce 5. No problem really.

Yeah modeling is hard in Bryce (Wings to for that matter) and that deep texture editor is something else. One false click and oops.

I'm looking for effects like plasma emission and or slowly morphing mist or fog.

There must be an effect pack which does all this. Like congealing that mist into a concentrated plasma beam etc.

As far as I can tell with Bryce, one could use (for say a laser beam) a textured and rather thin cylinder which is animated to extend in whatever direction. But the edges/interior are too defined and static; lacking that Scintillating effect. I'm generally looking for energy Emission effects.

Like say you were a professor of hydrodynamics and had to use Bryce to convey some of that phenomena. Doh!

    >>>

I've been using power poser finally and that can be quite tricky. I remember the um, other power poser where you click on the appendage Directly and move it... with this "version" you have to do it all from within the dialog box, otherwise the selected part deselects itself. What was the former called if something else? Is there a way to get that in Studio 1.7? This could have been the original format not sure.

    Thanks

I don't understand why you can't open your Br 5 stuff. I have successfully opened scens from Bryce 5 and Br 4 in Br 7, and imported "models" that I made in Bryce 5 and had saved as a preset.

You likely haven't dabbled in magick.

Always something. I'm finding whatever ani I do in studio which is transferred into bryce Then rendered comes out all "choppy". The WMV of it is all jerky or doesn't play at all. Hope this is merely a setting issue otherwise this game is up. I remember why I stopped all this years ago as this was the issue. The rendered sequences never played right.

You could pop over to the Bryce forum and ask an animation expert like Oroboros, he may have some ideas for you.

are you rendering frames or as a movie - if as a movie then render frames ,
then put them together in say windows movie maker .
sorry can't be more help - have not used these version for years .
you are lucky to get any animation to come over from DS .

To take DS figures and / or Props into Bryce to render in a Bryce environement, basically.
