Daz Studio problem

hi all, i'm an italian user of daz Studio 4.5.1.56, but I've had previous versions since 3...

I'm using the 4.5 release since it was released... great product and never had problems.
For about a week, I am experiencing continuous freezes of rhe pc.

I have a Win 7 pro 64bit, 4Gb of ram, video card ATI HD 5670. I know it is not perfect as a computer for DAZ, but I never had any problem.

no matter what the task that I am going to perform, at random intervals the pc freezes, and the only thing I can do is restart the PC.

I already tried to do stress tests on each component and do not have any kind of problem, same goes for other software and games, no slow down or block, only with daz studio.
I also formatted already three times, and three times re-installed daz studio, even changing hard disk.

How can I fix? Is a hardware problem in your opinion? Please let help me!

(sorry for bad english :) )

Have you Checked the RAM use at the time of the freeze? With 4Gb of Ram your not going to be able to push (use very many items in) DS4.5.

The entire computer freezing would indicate more a hardware problem or possibly overheating. Try the usual simple troubleshooting steps first. If it is laptop clean all the vents and use it on smooth hard surface so as not to block the vents. If a desktop may need to open and clean out any dust, lint or hair as well as check the fans are working.

I would suggest following up on Jaderail's comment. Running out of Ram can cause the computer to start to thrash the swap file, thus locking up the entire computer. If you put up something to show memory usage, like task manager before starting something that is locking up, then do that action, you will be able to see if memory is at 100%. The other thing to check at this point (set up first) is swap file usage.

The problem is in this case, the computer needs more actual memory then it has so when it swaps something out, it immediately needs it back so it swaps something else out it still needs... you get the picture. There is a certain minimum amount of memory needed to do things and this minimum shows up much higher in something like DAZ where it loads large items into the memory space along with everything else there already.

Thank you Gedd. Many users overlook the fact I've used PC's for over 20 years in many more ways than just 3D rendering.

Thanks to all for the suggestions .. much appreciated ...

the case is clean as i keep it clean once a month...
I checked the temperatures and they are all normal, even when I use daz studio but freezes remain...
also usually get a little more performance by disabling all unnecessary services such as themes, aero etc. ....

now I'm downloading an older driver of the video card, when I have installed will let you know if anything has changed

I have tested this with DS3 which had a habit of freezing when Aero was turned OFF. No idea if that continued in DS4.5.
