Need some help with using Daz 3d studio

Hello all,
My name is Roy. I'm a game developer.
I came across Daz 3D and I think it's what I need for my next project..
I am not an artist nor a 3D designer :)
What I want is to purchase some environments and characters from the shop, place them in Daz studio, change the pose of the character, set the camera to the desired angle and take a static screenshot (export to png), I'm pretty sure it's possible but I just want to confirm this..
Are there any video tutorial for this specific goal? I'm asking cause while searching for tutorials I've found that they all teach you how to creat the art, and that's not what I'm after, like I said I just want to position the purchased art and snap a shot..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Roy.

What it seems that you want to do, is what the program was designed for, posing and rendering characters, so I don;t know why you would need a special tutorial. What you need is a tutorial on Posing and perhaps another on Rendering, and there are free ones available in the Store here:

    http://www.daz3d.com/utilities-resources/tutorials/great-art-now-step-3-posing-and-morphing
    http://www.daz3d.com/utilities-resources/tutorials/great-art-now-step-6-rendering

There is a whole series of them, but basically that is what people use DAZ Studio for, Posing and Rendering still images (or even animations). You can save as PNG or Tiff as well as JPG too.

That's great, sorry for my ignorance I thought Daz is more about creating art then posing..
I'll take a look at these tutorials right away.

    Cheers
    Roy.

Im trying to get these tutorials, it tells me to download it via the DAZ3DIM, also got a confirmation mail for the purchase
I have the latest version of the install manager, but nothing shows up in the "ready to download" section of it, am I doing it wrong?

Well, yes it is for creating art, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder :)

It all depends on what kind of images you want to create. Some people use DS for comic books and would perhaps do 'toon' rendering, others do it to produce 3D artwork for book covers or to sell on as works of art in their own right, or even to do animations. A lot of users use it as an outlet for their creative urges.

Lighting is an important part of producing a good render (maybe even the most important part), so you could take a look at that too. Using only the images from DAZ Studio is within the EULA, but supplying the actual 3D mesh models is not allowed without a Game Developers Licence. As long as you are only using the rendered images in a game, there should be no problem.

If you need further help on anything, please ask, we have a lively forum here, full of very kind members who give their time to help others.

Sorry Roy, I must have been busy typing when you posted:. red:

If you go to the My Account area at the top of the forum, there is an option there called Product Library, and you should be able to download them from there. I don't think these items appear in the DIM as they are movie files of some sort, and not really DS or Poser content as such.

    Hey Jimmy,
You're helping me very much, and I can't stress how much I thank you for that!

Searching Lighting/Lighting tutorial in the shop did not result any downloadable tutorial, do you happen to know the exact name of the tutorial?

Also I want to make sure i'm not breaking any rules here, what i'm going to do is to purchase some environments and characters from the shop, position them in DAZ, take a shot, and put it in my project, meaning only png files will be in the project, is this fully legal?

    Again thanks in advanced
    Roy.

    Hello again Roy

Here is the tutorial link for Lighting : http://www.daz3d.com/utilities-resources/tutorials/great-art-now-step-5-lights

If you type in 'tutorials' without the quotes in the search bx, you will find them all, near the bottom of the page if you set it to 60 per page.

There are quite a few, and they are well worth looking at.

Yes, you can do whatever you like with the images and animations you make from items you buy here. For freebies you get elsewhere, be sure to check the readmes or licenses -- some freebies are more restricted.
