    Great tutorial, thank you. I don´t have Photoshop, but it must be doable in Gimp also.

    And those history pictures... Just - WOW!

    You can also post a picture of bloodshed, bodyparts scattered everywhere, no problem. But no nipple. :-P And panties required. Only modest figures in underwear are allowed. That´s just how the rules are, because this is a family-friendly forum.

    Not wanting to derail Roberto's thread, butt hat isn't true - RawArt was allowed a one-time exemption for his Severed Man product, but under normal circumstances disjecta membra will be pulled as quickly as nudity.

    This is beautiful work Roberto. I started a thread where I'm hoping people will show some of their work flow. I hope you don't mind me posting a link as anyone who happens upon that thread if they haven't seen this should :)

    Another way to use Daz Studio to illustrations. Here these illustrations, finished with gouache on paper. Could be finalized in Photoshop, Gimp or other programs.

    This is a job for Biology textbook. Illustrate Biology is no fun.

    Virtually all images are technical and very simple. But it is very simple to do it all in Hexagon. Good surfaces in Daz Studio and everything is very good. Very little postwork in Photoshop is necessary.

    I'm always searching for ways to make my cg work look like something else.


    How are you approaching your lighting in these renders?
    You seem to be using a lot of ambient and painting in the shadows on the ground by hand?
    (I'm using Carrara not daz studio)

    So you sometimes make the 3d illustration, then print it out and make a gouache copy?
    Or print out the line work and goauche over the top.?
    Or use a light box somewhere?

    Edit ahh I forgot. as far as making renders of various parts of your scene and combing them in photshop,?

    in Carrara we make a polygon plane for a mask. You place it in front of the camera, give it no texture and make sure it doen't reflect or have any shinyness. You turn off shadows for it as well.

    Then to render different parts of your scene you either delete a polygon (in the mask plane) or add a transparent texture to a polygon. So basically y ou have a variable mask.

    The only problem is that the plane will show up in reflections - so make sure it is very close to the camera and that means that it will be very small in the scene.

    Thank you so much for sharing your work! This whole thread has been very inspiring to me as a newbie to DAZ Studio and Hexagon. I've just begun to model in Hexagon and I know a lot of the professionals have much more expensive software, so it's encouraging to know that you can get great results from this software.

    Just found this page today. Wow! Absolutely beautiful work. I'm sure the students who use the textbooks you have prepared these images for will not only learn the material intended but also experience the artwork and possibly be motivated to learn to draw.

    Like others, I am new to 3D and am inspired by your work and words.
