Building ERC by hand - another way?

I'm back and reworking my comic characters for DS4.5. Ok, that said, I no longer have the hand grab tool but now we can create our own grabs by using a pose control called ERC Freeze.
I've been following this tutorial:
http://wiki.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/assembling/tutorials/pose_control/start
But my question is, is there an auto way to transfer the morphs from M4 to M3RR? My characters I built back when M3 and V3 were big. I reworked Colley (the girl) into a V4 character but I haven't many clothes for M4, only M3. Also I can't get Daryl to look right in M4.
Any ideas? I so wish there were another way besides one finger at a time.

So no one knows this eh? :gulp:
You might consider jumping to Genesis instead, and getting the Gen 3 iconic shapes.

and Generation X

that way you can simply translate your Gen 3 figures directly rather than play with the Gen4...
genesis has fantastic hand controls.
Thanks wancow
I see the clothing "should" fit. I have mostly gen3 clothing and a bit of gen 4 stuff. I haven't got into genesis yet. I stopped my PC club before I moved last year. I'll prob. need to rejoin to get the discount.
And I do wish this new daz site would remember my login.
NOt sure if it will be what you want, but SickleYield has recently posted a couple of things about 'posing chains' on her deviantART account
Gary, you will love Genesis. Sickleyield, as SimonJM said, is a guru when it comes to figure setup. I've done some, mostly experiments with skirts. Figure settup is very, very different from traditional Poser setup, but Autofit/Transfer Utility is amazing and you can do a whole lot with it.
What I'd like you to do is play with Genesis a bit. Open it up and open the Parameters tab. Select the hands and look under Pose Controls. Same with the head. I never, every rotate the head and neck separately anymore simply because the pose control for moving the two together is so well setup. Sometimes some of the pose controls for the hands need tweaking on the fingers, but not much, and each finger has its own.
You can also customize how your pose controls are organized, and you CAN make your own, only it's a bit involved. I've done that as well: http://www.sharecg.com/v/66313/view/21/DAZ-Studio/WC-Pose-Controls-for-Genesis
Pose Controls are saved the same way Morphs are saved with the extra step of ERC Freeze. There is a tutorial around here on how to do that and every time I do it I have to go dig for it... But Pose Controls are similar to JCMs in Poser, though I can't remember if they could control joint rotations in Poser, they can in D|S.
Notes on fitting clothing: there are tricks when clothing doesn't fit exactly the way it's supposed to. There's always a way. I always use the Transfer Utility instead of Auto Fit, but I'm a control freak that way.
Thanks for the help.

It says nothing of the UV's...
I'm looking to use all my V3/V4 and M3/M4 skins on it. Genesis is pretty cool and from what I've watched in the videos older clothing should not be an issue.
But Genesis's UV's only go back to V4. My comic figures are all 3rd generation. I've moved Colley (Girl 3) up to V4's G4, and she looks ok, but the rest I'm iffy on as far as the textures
there's a texture converter that will take Gen3 textures and remap them to Gen4... not sure how well it works:
http://www.textureconvertor.com/about.asp
It does nothing for UVs, either: I'd snap the product up at once, if there was one that did (and I had the dough!). But what you might do with it is to fit M3 or M3RR (okay, I haven't tried this yet) as a "bodysuit" to Genesis, adjust the shape as desired, and hide the underlying Genesis figure so as to use Mike3 with his own textures.
Good to see you back, Gary!
Pretty well. There is some distortion on complex textures (think full bodyart) but for regular textures it works pretty well. Eyes might need correction because V4/Genesis eyes are more complex.
You really don't want to do that. A few of us experimented with that approach last summer, and the result was much much hideousness. It looked all right to start with, but the figure was essentially unposable, and wound up with some sort of vertex/facet corruption after the file was saved and re-opened. It also doesn't really work for the UVs, because the Genesis figure hasn't' been mapped with Gen3 UVs (the zones are too different).
Euwwwww, vwrangler, you're correct. Like a house of horrors. I didn't want the morphs, just the skins. I may have to stay with M3.
I've been modekling for some time now and I'd think it wouldn't be that hard to create a uv that would match, but the morphs may not work.
And thanks, Eustace. Nice to be beck.
