Cannot import figures or props 8.5.0.204

edited December 1969 in Carrara Discussion

Hello,

I just installed 8.5.0.204 Mac 64-bit. I decided to place a prop into a scene, a prop I have used with previous versions of Carrara. I get a pop-up box that says:

An error occurred while executing import...

I tested other figures and props and it appears I cannot place anything into a scene. I am reverting to a previous version and will skip this one.

Cheers!
Norm

I normally don't answer questions when I know it has to deal with a Mac. But I have a question, why are you importing props? Carrara uses poser content straight from the carrara content browser. No need to import.

With C8.5 being a beta, if you don't report bugs you find, don't be upset if those bugs aren't fixed in the next version.

Wasn't "importing". That is just the error message that I got when I tried to add figures and props to the scene.

I did what I always have to do with the betas for mac: manually remove all reference to the previous beta installation in the Library, delete the app folder, and reinstall. This means I have to re-add my 25 or so runtimes...it's all ok, just another day of using my favorite modeller.

If I could remember where to post bugs and if they had fixed the ones I posted about 2 years ago, I would have created a bug report.

    Thanks anyway!

    Cheers!

    Whoa.... dude!
You never ever need to remove a single runtime, product or plugin during a Carrara uninstall!

I'm having a hard time explaining, I guess.

I had to add the runtime folders back into the interface because the settings were wiped out.

And I do have to completely remove all daz Carrara files. Do not know why, but it is the only way to be sure. I know in theory that I don't have to, but it seems from my experience (since C5) that the mac versions are not as well tested as the windoze version, especially the beta versions.

    Anyway, back up and running.

    Thanks!
