360 image too bright when used as background in Render Settings

I took some images with a 360 camera for use as render backgrounds. The dome scale seems pretty close. But, the image imports way too bright. It looks fine before import into Daz.
I tried both image map and intensity settings, but all that did was darken the total render, not lower the exposure for just the background.
I'm sure this must just be a setting issue. Any ideas?

If using a .jpg then go into an image programme and set the Gamma to either zero or 2.2. Studio seems to change the Gamma on some images that are usedin the dome, the ones that come with Terra Dome 3 are very bright when inserted in the dome and I lower the Map Intensity on them and use the Tone Mapping on the scene, that sometimes helps.
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
