I dont understand why the normal maps are rendering like this in zbrush. Can anyone help me figure out the correct settings?

  • Are you in the wrong space?
  • huh?

  • When exporting maps from ZBrush it is usually necessary to Flip V, otherwise they come out upside down. You can of course also fix this, now you have an inverted map, in an image editor. However, the colours also look off - I suspect your bake used absolute rather than tangent space.

Yes this is what I was asking.

  • i'll try that out and see.. Sorry for late reply.

Richard is correct.  Zbrush flips all the texture and normal maps in the vertical axis when exporting.  I usually flip these maps in Photoshop.
