Cancel a render

Is there a way to cancel a render in process before the image appears?

Sometimes I click the render button to early and while there are no problems to cancel the render once it has begun, I am to impatient to wait and would like to stop it immediately.
Is it possible?

(If it matters, I am refering to IRAY renders).

You should be able to just hit cancel on the small progress box (or the blank window where the image will appear if that is up.) Sometimes the cancel will take a while. (And with 3dlight, I've had it "hang" the renderer so I couldn't re-render... rarely, but it happens. So be sure your scene is saved beforehand, just in case.)

"Cancel" before the image starts to render doesn't end the process sooner than if I hit cancel when the first pixels appear.
