Daz cannot find content after changing install location

I've used Blender in the past, but I've had people raving at me about Daz Studio for a while, so I thought "Hey, it's free to try out the basics, I'll take a look".

Part way through the install, I realise I've goofed up my install settings. I have a dual drive machine, with a 250 GB SSD and a 2 TB HDD, so I install programs to the SSD, but I put large data packs on the HDD (as the SSD isn't large enough for large quantities of high detail models). Anyway, I realised that the Install manager was trying to install everything to the SSD, so I aborted, cleaned out the incorrect install location, restarted and tried again with the correct install locations, and I did eventually get it to (seemingly, at least) install everything where I wanted it.

However, long story short, when I finally get to fire up Daz Studio, it claims it cannot find any of its content. It's on the content lists, but with error signs and "Resource Error - Could not open file: file does not exist" if I try loading anything.

I'm assuming this is because the program's library is still looking in the (now empty) original asset install location, but I can't easily see how to set the program to use the new correct location (and I'd really rather not just be randomly poking at file paths I can see and break the program all the more).
How do I fix this so that Daz can find the content, preferably without having to redownload several gigabytes worth of data?

This is specifically Daz Studio 4.10.0.107 Pro Edition (64-Bit).

System specs, in case they're any use:
Windows 8.1 Home 64-Bit
IPM87-MP motherboard
Intel Core i7 4790
MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4GB (Driver version 381.89 - not the latest version, but it's stable with all the other programs I use, so I've not updated it recently)
16 GB DDR3-1333Mhz RAM

  • DS and DIM have separate content diectory listings (which isn't entirely unreasonable, DS supports multiple content set-ups and it's quite possible that a user might be installing content for a future project that shouldn't be acessible in the current). This does mean that you need to sync the locations if they are not default. You can use Edit>Preferences>Content tab>Content Directory Manager to add or remove locations; you can also use the Content Library pane and right-click on a  so-and-so Fomrats heading to add a new folder or right-click on a top-level folder to remove it. There are also scripts that can be sued to sync to or from DIM:

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/install_manager_config_import/start

if downloaded and dragged into the DS viewport will bring in the settings from DIM.

It's too late to help with the Daz applications but if you change your Documents location, or the whole profile, you should find that future isntalls of applications will use the correct drive - find the folder under C:\Users\PROFILE, right-click, Properties, Location tab and change.

Right. All sorted. Everything found and loading.

I did find that manager, but given I'd already apparently managed to mess something up, I wanted to be sure I wasn't breaking something else.

    Many thanks.
