Coupon Only Good for 4 Days?

I got an email from DAZ stating that if I purchased any Ken Gilliland product in April I would receive a $10 coupon towards any $30 or more purchase of DAZ Originals in May. So I purchased 4 bird bundles from Ken's store and received my $10 coupon today which expires Monday, May 6th. What kind of crap is that. I am only given four days of time to use the coupon. It sure as hell didn't say that in the original email. It said the month of May, not good for only four days in May. This is another reason I am fed up and will not spend another dime at DAZ. I have had it with this company and they way it is being mismanaged. You have lost another customer DAZ. The 1000's of dollars of items in my wishlist are going to be emptied. I should probably ask for all of the money I have spent in the last 30 days to be refunded to my bank account.

I think it would make more sense to file a ticket with sales and explain to them the problem with the coupon and get it fixed ,rather then grumbling and fussing ,and threatening to never shop here .........not trying to be rude or mean but seems to me you stress yourself out too much ,but that's just my view.

Just checked the newsletter I got back on the 28th, and you're right, it just says "purchase of DAZ Originals in May".

I'm not as annoyed as you are... yet... but DAZ are really skating close to the edge here. I'm hoping for something I can use the coupon on appearing over the weekend — there's certainly not $30 worth of DOs in the store right now that I haven't already bought. I already lost the use of one of the April coupons because there was nothing new I wanted to buy while it was active.

I'm trying to remember, in the Elder Days (Before Magento) would this sort of thing have been done with a one-off coupon or a more flexible voucher?

How about if I try this.

Thank you DAZ for only giving me 4 days to use a coupon that I thought I would be given more time to utilize. I'm not sure I have $30 worth of DO's in my wishlist or if you have $30 worth of newly released products that I may want. It doesn't really matter, I will somehow try to scrounge up $30 worth of items whether I want them or not since I only have 4 days to do so. I really appreciate that I will not be able to use this on any new DO releases that come out after the 6th of this month. I am so happy about this.

    Thank You.
    Love,
    Roy

Thank you for posting that the coupons were released though. I'm one of the people who never seem to get those vital emails. I also qualify to receive one and have put in a request to CS ... also asking about the short spending deadline. Hopefully I'll get a reply in good time ...

edit: Britney came through, yeah! Got my coupon :-)

Yeah, if it was $10 off anything over a certain price, then tight timescale would be fair enough. ...or DAZ Originals for the entire month would be fair enough.

I'd probably find enough items I'd use at some point in the future, but they're not items I need right now - and with money being tight, I need to start restricting myself to items I need. I'll maybe just need to pretend I never got the voucher in the first place, or spend another week living on tins of beans :shut:

...or maybe I should start a 12-step program to battle my runtime addiction :-)

$30 worth of new DAZ Originals that are not Genesis products before the coupon expires?

    Not likely.

And, I'm really tired of spending hours searching through old products to find something to purchase with the ridiculously limited monthly coupon.

Oh, look at that, a time limit. I had already stopped reading at "$30 worth of DAZ Originals" :D

It was disingenuous of DAZ to put that kind of time limit on the coupon after the Ad specifically said In May which at least would have been interpreted as the entire month. Even at a month, many, possibly most would go unused. Hopefully this will be adjusted.

hmm, well, I'm sad, but this may be the third coupon I cannot use. I don't have that many Daz originals that I want to pay for, especially not at full price.

To any PC members wondering about this, I loaded up my cart with PC and Value items and it appears that this coupon does work on those categories. (I don't think this is a "glitch" as they are DAZ Originals, and the e-mail didn't say they were excluded...just thought this information might be helpful)

Is there an equivalent to Canada's Competition Bureau in the USA? (Up here, the Competition Bureau is part of the federal government, so its rulings apply across the country.) Quoting from http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/eic/site/cb-bc.nsf/eng/h_00529.html :"The Competition Bureau promotes truth in advertising in the marketplace by discouraging deceptive business practices and by encouraging the provision of sufficient information to enable informed consumer choice."

If you're in the Platinum Club, you can get two items at $10.47 each (discounted from $14.95) and one at $9.07 (discounted from $12.95). That's $30.01 in total, and the coupon brings that down to $20.01 - effectively one-third off the club price (or 53% off the list price, including the club discount).

Are there any DOs in this price range you'd be willing to buy at half-price?

It appears with the targeted marketing and complex discount criteria were seeing - that marketing dept is beginning to take advantage of data analysis from the new systems and they are experimenting with various offerings. In 2012, it was the shotgun approach, now they are scoping in the marketing efforts like a rifle shot. You can see the emotional response of the consumers that its having some effect. Further data analysis from these explorations will reveal more accurate consumer patterns, and the effectiveness of the various approaches. Then I suspect more consistent marketing efforts that "make sense" and garner more positive response will emerge.

This is interesting as all the of the emails I've gotten recently with coupon codes ALL had limited time access, so I'm not at all surprised that this one is only good until May 6th.

As far as I can remember, the only coupon/voucher we've ever had that lasted a whole month was the Platinum Club membership monthly coupon/voucher.

The coupon does work on PC items and value priced items.

It helps, a little bit. But I tend to buy any PC/V stuff I like the look of right away. I'm hunting back through the DO category, but all I see that I want is stuff I liked so much I already bought it.

Same with me, I just don't have hardly any DO's or PC items, in my wishlist. That is why I was wishing I could use that coupon on DO's released this month, but DAZ is not going to give any of us the opportunity to do that since we only have until Monday to use it. Maybe they will release $30 worth of DO's on Monday. I won't be holding my breath, but you never know.

Thanks for the mention about the PC DO items ... helped get those last few dollars in the basket.

The coupon information that was sent to me had a different deadline so it could be that the deadline has something to do with purchase date?
At any rate, my letter said May 8th. However it's already spent. As long as I know about the coupons, deadlines aren't usually an issue.

Sorry...this is a bit unrelated but maybe not ... perhaps more relevant because of the Magneto framework.

Every time I see the DAZ sales and coupons and the weird pricing logic on discounts I have a vision in my mind ...

Wolverine frozen in mid-air in pain ... "That remarkable metal doesn't run through your entire body does it?!"

    LOL

Miss B, that is a good observation and you are correct. The only difference is most of the coupons we get from DAZ are just randomly from them, whereas this coupon was more or less purchased, as we had to buy something in order to get the coupon. I do see your point though.

As far as me taking my ball and going home (stop buying from DAZ and ask for a refund on my latest purchases), that is always my initial reaction, but I never go through with it because I like all of the stuff I buy, that is why I buy it. When I feel I am getting screwed in some way or another, I try and fight back and the only way to do that with a company like DAZ is by those type of threats. I am sorry if some of you feel I grumble and throw hissy fits, I just don't know what other recourse I have. Putting in a support ticket seems to me to be ridiculous. I am not having a problem with something not working. There should be a complaint side of the forum and that way DAZ would be able to see how their customers feel about certain subjects that come up from time to time. Waiting for a response from DAZ through the support system would probably take longer than the coupon is good for and just get swept up under the rug.

Do I really complain that much? Am I that bad at socializing? Maybe I should create a thread asking those questions rather than complain about how DAZ is doing this and doing that. Just think, two more weeks and our 1 year anniversary of the new site will be here and guess what, many of us still have log in problems. The wishlist is still the same. Trying to keep track of this sale and that sale is starting to become burdensome and extremely tedious. I absolutely hate the buy this to get this for this price sales. What good does that do me for items in my wishlist that I have no idea who even created them. Why do we have this big ass box in the wishlist to put crap in when DAZ themselves can put all the pertinent info needed there for us with very little effort. I could go on and on. I will say at least they are trying. I do like the new product library and the Install Manager and we don't have the really bad snafu's that we used to have, just minor annoyances.

I apologize for my ranting. I really am a nice guy. I just don't like being taken advantage of.

"Putting in a support ticket seems ridiculous because you are not having a problem with something not working"..........but you are, the coupon is NOT working the way You expected ,there was not a time limit specified and the amount of time is too short, so why can't you ask for an extension ??? It hurts nothing to try.
Plus by putting in the ticket you are notifying DAZ in writing that you have a complaint that should be addressed ,and it could be worth the wait for the response.
"I try and fight back and the only way to do that with a company like DAZ is by those type of threats. " Yea but I have to say it only works if DAZ hears or sees them ,and there isn't always a grantee of that when you post in the forums ,if you get lucky one of the moderators might meantion it to a higher up,but they might not,so by putting in a support ticket you are waveing a complaint sign in the window ....see what I mean??

The same goes for the April coupons, which depended on how much we bought during March Madness. There was one "TODAY ONLY!!!" coupon, the others were good for several days. But we didn't know how many coupons we'd get — I got my last one just a couple of days ago — or how much they'd be for, or how much we'd have to spend to use them. It's all getting way too complicated and unexplained, and much more chaotic than every time DAZ has run similar cascades in the past. Are all of these problems really "because Magento can't handle the logistics of pricing" like the old store? I'm not sure if a yes or a no would be worse...

Yes, it said '$10 off on a purchase of $30 or more in May. That is the thing some are complaining about. In May is the whole month, unless specified otherwise.

Ty for posting it, it clarifies things some.

I would like to say, 50% off on Ken's stuff was good enough for me really. The coupon would have only been a bonus. :)

Yes, I've learnt recently to do a screen refresh on a regular basis to get the "latest"!
Acutally the first one posted above (by tjohn) is the one I received in an email, then when I went to the "sales-promotions" page I noticed the slight difference, which is why I screenprinted it at the time.
ETA: I made a mistake above - I took another look at the email and it was sent out at 02:30 Sunday 28th, so I must have seen the store promo page before I got the email - the screen print was at 13:30 (local UK time) Saturday 27th, so about 06:30 or 07:30 DAZ Time (not sure whether the time difference was 6hrs or 7hrs at the time).
