I don't know if it's just me, but numerous times when checking the banner, the freebie seciton doesn't show anything. Are they skipping days, or is this a glitch?

Well finally got a render done with the neo high boots. While I truly appreciate the freebie, they made my DS freeze up. Once I reset the surfaces and retextured them, they worked great and are the first stitch of clothing I have for G8 male, LOL.. jacket and gloves are from Toyen for G8 female, jeans are from luthbel for G2 female and beanie is from OOT for V4.

Really great render!  Looks like right where I want to be.

Thanks! yeah, it doesn't snow hardly at all here in Tx, so I'd like to spend a little time there as well.

Tell me about it.....waving from down near NASA Johnson Space Center area.crying

If you already own the freebie, it won't show up. And there have been some days with two freebies, and some days without any new freebies.

    Today's Freebie:

I honestly love these sorts of freebies more than clothing or even hair.  The werird (or not so weird) little touches that can really make an image feel grounded.

Is the top hat a separate prop that can be scaled down and placed on other characters?

Thank you! :) It's two different Christmas trees (one inside the other to make it fuller and to give it more ornaments).

The room and one of the trees is from here: http://inlitestudio.com/3d/product/christmas-lounge/

The second tree is from here: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=75962

I turned the stars, bells, and little light bulbs into emissives.

I used the long scarf and the boots. The boots are sooooo sloooow to load on my computer and very resource intensive. I think it is because they use a lot of LIE images. I had to use the Scene Optimizer and use the baked (non LIE) images it created by reducing the boots image size by a factor of 2. The scarf is fun to play with in dForce. The scarf caught in the left hand was painstakingly posed, but the right hand pulling the scarf to the waist was a happy accident.

Edit: Added another simulation with a better skirt drape.

The scarf looks great. I messed around a lot with it but had trouble fitting it over the character's head. It would always fall on the head if the character was leaning or not vertical.

Very very nice. I'm thankful I was online to get those boots and scarf because they seem to be unavailable as products. I am amazed DAZ did not make them available for sale. BTW did you play with the scarf in dForce Beta?

Did you try simulating from a memorized Tor A position with a longer initialization time, so the scarf could fall to the neck before the character moves into your selected pose. You can also move and rotate the initial position of the scarf to better align with the head before starting simulation. It doesn't have

I think I'll take this as a challenge and see what I can do.

On my characters the neck area hole in the posed curled version is kind of narrow. It is a bit of a crapshoot to even rope the head in the neck area. If I make it bigger it looks more like a shawl which looks better on a woman but less the look I’m going for.

i ended up dforcing a scarf with a simple neck loop but dang I want to use this because it looks cool. But my aim was off lassoing the head especially in action poses.

Try an animated simulation. Use Head Propagating Scale to make the head tiny at the beginning and grow to normal size later. That lets a tightly wound scarf fall around the neck without the head getting in the way.

Hmm.. pretty ingenious. I will try the shrunken head and see how that plays out

I used the tiny head technique for these renders with the tight neck loop. I also used a dForce wind node to blow the scarf out behind her. This is a dangerous scarf to wear on a bicycle!

Thank you everyone for the lovely gifts. Every year I make a Christmassy picture to send as an e-mail Christmas card. This year I've got an Elf and a Snowman from the Freebies in the picture.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

Thank you guys, SO MUCH for the wonderful holiday freebies! I didn't get to render many of the freebies this year due to being busy. Please know that your freebies are very much appreciated though and you all really are so generous to give of your time, energy, and work to help make this a fun holiday for the Daz community.

THANK YOU PAs who donated your products! yesheart
