How to minimize or hide the search bar?

First off - THANK YOU!! For making the search bar fonts large enough that I can actually see the words!

How can I minimize it or hide it tho?  Sometimes it hides itself and I have no idea how it is being done? When I am just browsing someone's gallery, like I am here, there is really no need for 1/3? of the viewing page to be covered with a search.
