If I were to uninstall DAZ and re install everything via DIM, would that eliminate the "duplicate object" errors? and is it a good idea?

    Very probably yes, it will solve those errors. It did for me, at least. You'll have to uninstall all your DAZ content that you wish for DIM to install (not necessarily the software, though it might be a good idea to upgrade anyway if you aren't using 4.5.1.56 or later).
